My pc appears to be running ok except my windows update has started to fail updates.
The system downloads updates automatically and then installs them but they are then failing.:(
These three updates in particular are failing with an error code 80073701

KB3060716
KB2952664
KB3071756

I have scanned the system for Malware, viruses etc .
I downloaded Win 7 x64 update readiness tool. That ran ok and was successful but I still had update problems.:(

What are my next steps ?.
I can see a clean install coming here but would prefer not to go there if possible .
Thanks in advance for any help /advice.

Hello Layback Bear.
I ran Surt successfully.
I ran SFC Scan successfully. Scan found some corrupt files but could not repair all of them, could not upload CBS file .
Your limit is 8.MB.my zipped file is 168 MB.
Should I open the CBS log folder and only copy the file for todays run ?
I re ran windows up dates. They failed ,error code 80073701 ,see snip tool jpeg attached.

If CBS.zip is too big, can you upload it to https://www.sendspace.com/ and send the link?

However, let Noel help you with all this, he's our specialist for Windows Updates and Activation.

Thank you, for your patience.

John

The best fileshare sites I know are DropBox and OneDrive. Unless you are already subscribed to another please use one of those.

Noel I have a drop box account.
I have loaded the zipped CBS file into a folder.
How do I now create a link to invite you to view the file .
Should be simple I know but I have not used drop box for ages and mi memory is letting me down at the moment.

I know the feeling! ;)
If you open your Dropbox folder and right-click on a file in it you should be offered the option to create/copy a link (Share it) - make sure that the permissions are such that 'Anyone with the link can open it'

There's a number of problems there involving Manifest files -
The only errors in the SFC scan are these...
Code:
	Line 5264: 2015-08-18 10:16:31, Info CSI 00000a78 [SR] Repairing 1 components
Line 5265: 2015-08-18 10:16:31, Info CSI 00000a79 [SR] Beginning Verify and Repair transaction
Line 5268: 2015-08-18 10:16:31, Info CSI 00000a7b [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:24{12}]"utc.app.json" of Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client, Version = 6.1.7601.18869, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch
Line 5271: 2015-08-18 10:16:31, Info CSI 00000a7d [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:66{33}]"telemetry.ASM-WindowsDefault.json" of Microsoft-Windows-Unified-Telemetry-Client, Version = 6.1.7601.18869, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch
... which are not problems as such - merely coding errors by MS which can be ignored.

Please run CheckSUR so that we can find/fix the problems with the Manifest files...

Please download and save the CheckSUR tool from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821
(you'll need to look in the details for Windows 7, downloading from the Microsoft Download Center)

Run it - The tool can take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install') depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear to freeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result is logged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip the CheckSUR.log and upload it in your reply.
