Windows StartUp Programs

I noticed my computer was lagging quite a bit with loading up my desktop after login compared to the beginning of last summer and I checked out my Start Up programs list and noticed an absurd amount of Console Window Hosts (count roughly ~140) I'm just curious if this is normal or not and if there are any tips to accelerating my load time for the desktop. All other programs starting up are all other components for my computer.

Specs are from a Gateway laptop for reference:
64Bit Windows 7
Intel i3 processor
4gb ram

Thanks.

Jibblet,
Welcome to SevenForums.

First order of business: Update your system specs using this procedure. I recommend Speccy.

Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
(left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

Add the word laptop or desktop or netbook to the
“system manufacturer” block, for example,
Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

2nd Order of Business item:
Provide files in this writeup:

Install CCleaner:

Can't even parse most of the start-up programs. I suggest that you disable all of them except for your A-V and Firewall Programs if any and then reboot.

Do things get better now?

Yikes! You have a ton of randomly named exe files running. I would suggest download and run the free Malwarebytes, the free Superantispyware, and the offline Windows Defender. What antivirus program do you use?

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

What A-V Program is in use? Are its definitions up-to-date?

If things don't pan out with the many suggestions that have been given then please do a clean re-install of Windows 7 all over again, install Avast! free A-V or repeat or MSE and take an image.

After that you may compute with confidence and restore the image if you again get into a similar mess. Don't forge6 to make fresh images once in a while. I do it once in a month.
