The CheckSUR scan did actually complete one time - wit the following results...
Code:
Summary:
Seconds executed: 45179
 Found 892 errors
 Fixed 406 errors
CSI Missing Winning Component Key Total count: 892
Fixed: CSI Missing Winning Component Key. Total count: 406

With this number of problems there really is nothing I can do :(

Try a repair install, but it may well fail. If it does, your only option will be a clean install.

NoelDP,
As you expected, the system recover said it failed.
However, the computer will now shutdown and restart without stopping and reporting an error. I had been getting a error with Avastui.exe which would prevent shutdown. The hard drive light is also not on continuously.
I think this is progress. Do you think you could look at this cbs.log - I didn't see any errors.

Windows is starting to lock up again.
Okay, I am going to try to do a repair install. I don't have a Win7 installation DVD, so I am downloading X17-58997.iso and going to put it on a USB drive. I am trying to follow the repair install instructions steps 1-4.
Is this what you would recommend?

NoelDP,
Thanks for your help. I found a Microsoft FIXIT program that was supposed to solve update problems, then I installed IE11 and it worked. I don't know if it has solved the other problems, but thee computer seems to be working okay now.
Thanks for your help.

I'd be very surprised if it solved much - but it's possible.
If you feel so inclined, please run a new CheckSUR scan and post the new CheckSUR.log file.
