Hey guys, I am having an issue with windows not checking for updates properly. When I go to update windows, it checks for updates and then displays the error code C0000022. I have run numerous antivirus scans, thinking this may be the problem, and removed what traces and threats were found by the scans. However, this didn't solve the update issue. I have also run a startup repair, which detected no problems.

My MGADT results are below. The only thing I don't understand is that the product key the results display doesn't match the product key of the sticker on my computer, which came with windows preloaded. Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

EDIT: Attached the CBS file after following all steps in the Windows Update Posting Instructions thread. The error code as mentioned above is C0000022.

EDIT #2: Also I should add, when I go to System properties (Right-click computer, then properties) under the windows activation section, both status and Product ID show as "not available". In addition, I get a pop up every hour or so that tells me that my copy of windows is not genuine and I need to validate or buy genuine windows.

I am currently working on those tests to post those results. I thought this was more of a Activation/Genuine windows issue since the product key on my machine does not match the one displayed by the test results included in my original posting. I will post the update issue test results as soon as I have completed them.

EDIT: CBS zip file attached to original posting.

When I click start, it says the service cannot be started because it is either disabled or there are no enabled devices associated with it.

I also attempted to enable the device under the general tab, but it says the device cannot be enabled.

That's unfortunately common.

Open Regedit andnavigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_SPLDRKey

Export it to a regfile for safety!

Right-click on thekey name, and Select Permissions,

Click on Advanced, then the Owner tab

Make sure thatAdministrators is the owner, and put a tick in the 'Replace owner...' box atthe bottom

Click OK once

add Administratorsto the 'Groups or Usernames' list, and give them Full permissions

CLICK OK

Now move to the 0000subkey

Double-click on theConfigFlags entry

Change the datavalue to 400 (make sure that the radio-button is in 'Hexadecimal') and click OK

Exit Regedit, andreboot.

Post a new MGADiagreport

Here is the new MGADiag report. Also as of right now widows update detected 46 new updates and is downloading the new updates right now. I'll post back the updates go smoothly!

EDIT: Is it normal for the product keys to not match up between the sticker on my machine and the MGADiag report?

The report looks fine now - the rest should be plain sailing :)

Computers that comepre-installed with Windows from large manufacturers usually come with twoProduct Keys.

OEM SLP: This is the key that came in Windows(from the factory). It works by connecting to a BIOS flag (the SLIC table)found only on computers from thatManufacturer. It also checks for the existence of proper matching licenses inthe OS itself. Once it sees both, it self-activates every time the machine isrebooted.

COA SLP: This is the key seen on the stickerlocated on the side, bottom or in the battery compartment of your machine. Thiskey is for use if the OEM SLP self-activation stops working for whateverreason.

Well, after about an hour of updating and restarting I am close to being fully updated.

Currently there are 4 important updates that will not install:
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 on Windows 7 (KB2742599 & KB2729452)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2790655)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB2750841)

I try to install all four updates and all four fail every time. Restarting my system didn't help either. The new error code it gives me is 800B0100.

All the other updates, including the optional ones, have successfully downloaded and installed.

Please run and post new SFC and CheckSUR logs.
Please also post an MGADiag report -
Please followthis tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on theCopy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup filesfor some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to yourresponse.

Please also statethe Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one)on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOTquote the Key on the sticker!

The MGADiag report doesn't show any problems - and the error in the screencap (fe21) is a fairly generic one which can appear as the result of a race condition ( where two processes fight for resources)

There's quite a number of new errors present in the CheckSUR - but the SFC log is clean.

I've uploaded a file - z13ab.zip - to my SkyDrive at Noel's SkyDrive

Please downloadand save it.

Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…

Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder z13abin the same place.

Open this folder- there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to thefolder

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Great! - that worked fine, and the CheckSUR is now clear.

Please run another SFC /SCANNOW and post the new CBS.log file, and we'll see if that's pulled anything out of the woodwork.

I got two of the four updates to install. Ran additional MGADiag, SFC, and SURCheck. My results are below.

The two updates that won't install are KB2790655 and KB2742599. The error code Windows Update gives me is 8024200D. The other two updates installed properly on the first try.
