I ran the SURT tool Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu.
Ran fine, no problem.

Ran sfc /scannow
"Verification 100%"
"Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."

Hitmanpro_x64

I still get the "Windows Update Error, Error Code 80070643, Code 9C57"

lookin at your logs
couple of questions
Are you dual booting or have the OS on your D drive/partition.
can you also run, in following order

and sfc /scannow

copy/paste the results please.

No OS on D: drive. I had tried to repair the Windows 7 OS using a different install disk. I could not find the Panasonic Toughbook disk until a few days ago.

Hi Qp,
Sfc is reporting an error from IE10, are you running that version?, if not please remove it REBOOT and go directly to IE11

Then try 1 of the failed updates.

On a further note have you validated Office >>Enterprise<< as this may also be stopping the updates.
(this product is usually only sold via a company or educational establishment, and the required key required is supplied by them)

Ok, I was not able to uninstall IE 10 (Version 10.0.9200.16660).

I opened MS Excel 2007 and it opened fine, it did not need to be validated with Microsoft.

I tried to run that IE11-Windows6.1-x64-en-us.exe and it wanted me to download 6 prerequisites.

try this from an elevated command mode please, (copy/paste)

Hi Qp,
I cant source a replacement file for the IE10 error.
I take it that the six failed updates are the pre-requisites for IE11?.

As your using Firefox,
you could turn off IE in >>progs/features>>turn features on/of (top left) new window opens uncheck IE, (note this may not work as its corrupt)

The other option is a repair install with no loss of data.

What do you mean by "newer"? I was hoping to keep the installed software intact and not have to do a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit.

Ok Sorry for the delay but this laptop is behaving oddly when it comes to updates.

Here is the 6 per-requist files and the result of trying to install them (each file took about 10-12 hours to attempt to install)
KB2729094 - Already installed
KB2731771 - Not applicable
KB2533623 - Not applicable
KB2670838 - Already installed
KB2786081 - Already installed
KB2834140 - Failed to install

I skipped ahead to Repair Install

I made a USB stick of the installation media you provided and followed the directions on the page.

I started the install from the computer being boot up into the existing Windows 7 install.

I proceeded to Step 9 and chose the "Go online to get the latest updates for installation..." That ran over the weekend and when I came in just now I saw the attached picture I've included with this posting of the error message I got.

How shall I proceed?

A repair install will not help. Backup your data and do a clean install. What you are trying will never make it right.

After installing windows you install the 2 updates found in this thread.

Windows Update will not update and I've tried multiple fixes

After that you install only security updates, then you go over the description of each and every important/recommended update to see if you want or even need it.

I have never installed any updates while installing Windows, if you don`t have the ethernet drivers installed it`s impossible anyway, no reason to even try. (I understand you are already in windows)

3 recent installs done in the last 2 weeks, no windows update issues at all, and a perfect sfc, and these are the updates you can skip and hide, W7 is now a snap to install again.
