I'll see what I can do with it later.

Trying to add some help to the cause, I began searching my pc and registry for strings in the above errors. Focusing on just the first one, I found this.

The folder (in WinSXS) and the key (in SidebySide/Winners) are there with the beginning of the string

amd64_prnsv002.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_

However, the final digits are different. The CBS log seems to indicate that the process is looking for 269c769ef72a607c, but my folder and key end in 3d9ac95ab22127ab.

The binary representations of those values seem to have absolutely nothing in common:

0010 0110 1001 1100 0111 0110 1001 1110 1111 0111 0010 1010 0110 0000 0111 1100

That may all be completely useless info, but I feel bad dumping everything off on someone else without making some kind of effort.

Thanks for the backstop! - that's only part of the problem, though.
e.g.
Open regedit (You'll have to load the COMPONENTS hive first)and navigate to the
Code:
HKLM\COMPONENTS\DerivedData\VersionedIndex\6.1.7601.17592 (win7sp1_gdr.110408-1631)\ComponentFamilies\amd64_prnsv002.inf.resources_31bf3856ad364e35_en-us_269c769ef72a607c
Key

Try and get any deeper into the branch and you end up with an Access Denied error. This is caused by corruption in the Key - I may end up just renaming and/or deleting the Key entirely and rebuilding it from scratch

When I loaded the COMPONENTS hive, the associated key has a pilcrow (¶) between the final 'c' and 'a' in the key name.

amd64_prnsv002.inf_31bf3856ad364e35_none_a0bd017c2e7c¶a76

Not sure if that's a problem or not.

Aha! - lemme check...
Duh - yes it's there, and I didn't see it!
I've corrected that here now, so I'll work on the others...

Well spotted that man - the pilcrow should be a 4 -if you change it manually, then you could try the SFC again - but don't believe everything it says, as I think there's more to come from CheckSUR now.

Run another CheckSUR, and see what it has to say now.

OK - we'll have to play dirty then...

I'll upload a reg file later after I've checked a few things - with any luck that'll fix this particular problem.

This seems to have slipped off my todo list :(
I'll post the file later today, and we'll see how it goes.

I've uploaded a file - rchae.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on the saved file and select Extract all...
Save it to the default location
This should create a file comp.reg

right-click on the file, and select Merge
Accept the warnings, - you should then get a 'Success' message.
Close all windows, and reboot.

Then see what happens with Windows Update - if it fails, run both SFC and CheckSUR and post a new set of results.

Let's have another look at the registry..

I need to have a look at your COMPONENTS registry hive

Please copy the C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS file (no extension) to your desktop and then compress it - upload the compressed file to your favoured fileshare site (preferably Dropbox or OneDrive) and post a link.

Bad news, I'm afraid -
There is a massive chunk of data missing from the registry - and corruption is present as well.

A repair install is your best hope :(

This is the error I get when I try to repair. It occurs immediately after copying Windows files to the computer at the beginning of the second step (Gathering Programs, Settings...)

I suspect that there are permissions problems. - your only real option now is a clean install :(
