Okay, first things first... Windows hasn't updated itself so far. I could turn my computer off without waiting for win to check for updates, probably the windows updates feature/automatic updates was deactivated, I don't know, I've just bought my pc some months ago. Yesterday I installed the Windows Essential pack, because I needed the Movie Maker software. Win Essentials 2012 didnt work for me, so I installed the 2011 version, but to no avail...The problem was with movie maker, it simply didn't open, so I decided to uninstall Windows Essential. I immediately noticed some changes in Win, the icon of the shut down button has changed for example. When I wanted to shut down my pc, it began to search for updates, (I repeat, it never did before) but I unplugged my computer. I turned on my computer today, and after some 10 minutes the screen resolution and the theme of my win has changed automatically, (it totally looked like win xp) and by checking the add/remove programs folder, it turned out that win had installed an old version of Intel driver (Intel (R) Graphics Media Accelerator Driver 8.15.10.1930), since I had Intel(R) Chipset Device Software 9.4.0.1017. And Win had also installed Microsoft Office 2003, but I had already had the 2007 version.
1. What made these changes in windows updates feature?
2. Why does it install old softwares and drivers?
