Toshiba l455-s5000. immediately get 'pxe-61 media test failure'. I would think this may indicate it's not recognizing the hdd, and tries to boot from the network controller? in the bios, the hdd is listed. lan is last in the list. dvd rom is second. hdd is first. there is no install discs. I do have a win 7 boot disk. selecting the dvd drive in bios to boot from first, it loads file, then goes to black screen with arrow. Kaspersky recue disk worked, but no threats found. I can boot it with Linux knoppix live, and it easily mounts the drive, and I can see all the info there no problem. the hdd spins, sounds fine. I hook it up in my caddy to another pc, I can see the drive listed in computer, but soon as I click anything, the other pc freezes. it is in disk management, but is not initialized, and cannot do so. what other tests can I perform? Toshiba requests that to get to recovery, you hold '0' while powering on. get same black screen. what next?
