Windows won't fully start

Letter on drives are assigned by the OS. Under Windows it may show C: and E:
When you boot from the installation disk it may have another letters. That is why you must find using the dir command.
If under the installation disk it is D: and I: you should use it on the Robocopy command.

I don't think it made a separate folder.
I think it just mixed the files in with all the other files I already had on the ext hd.

You do have a COA sticker with the key at the side of your case, don't you?
Lets do a Repair installation. Repair Install - Windows 7 Help Forums
It will reinstall Windows keeping your programs and data.
Can you boot in safe mode?
If you can, copy all Win 7 Installation disk to a folder.
Go to \sources and delete ei.cfg. Deleting this file you can install any of the four version (HBasic, HPremium , Pro or Ultimate).
Run \Setup.exe. Install Pro version as you have the key for it on the COA sticker.

Mine is a HP small form factor.
See enclosed pics.
Not sure where it was/is, but felt around and felt slight airflow after turning on.

It was REALLY dusty though (see before & after pics).
I've never dusted it in the 4 years I've had it.
Could it have been overheating right after startup though?

YES! a computer can overheat just after startup.
Computers should be cleaned several times a year. How often depends on several things.

Examples:
How dusty is the computer room.
Is the intake air have filters. Then the filters should be cleaned as needed. A visual inspection should give you a good idea if cleaning is needed.
Pet air is also a problem.

With a little bit of research you will find intake filters. They also make special brushes and blowers for clean the inside of computers.

You're welcome.
It was REALLY dusty.
I don't like compressed air as it doesn't take the dust out. It moves the dust from one place to the other.
I use a vacuum cleaner. Some people say it can give static discharges. Here in Brazil, where the humidity is normally high, we don't have static discharges using a vacuum cleaner. Even if it gets charged, it's quite simple to connect the vacuum tube to the computer case.

Well it ran for 15 hours and did fine then it crashed/restarted on it's own.
It usually does when I have my Firefox open with 15+ tabs of both youtube and 15+ of amazon and am also playing a video on mpc-hc.
So I restarted and then it crashed/restarted 1 hour later.
So this time I just played a video on mpc-hc and it still crashed within 5 minutes.
So I don't think it's a conflict anymore, unless it's the propietary codecs that mpc-hc uses.

I will download the monitor u linked to and check out the temperature and get back.

thanks
