Windows won't load and system repair disc won't run

The other day my laptop crashed on me,

i tried to restart but after windows screen it hangs or crashes,

i tried safe mode, it loads windows files stops and hangs at class.pnp

i have got an iso of win 7 hp 64 bit (same as installed os)
but when i boot from this it loads files and then i end up on a blank screen with a curser i can move, but i cannot do anything more

any clues?

is there a way i can wipe the HDD's from bios and try a clean install that way or anything, have resigned myself to the fact i have lost a fair bit of daa and thats fine

OK you are willing to do a clean install. But first save all important data to an external disk!
For example boot from UBUNTU live CD and copy all important files. When done boot from install dvd and do the shift+f10 to enter command prompt (only 1 harddisk attached!!)

diskpart
list disks (only 1 disk listed? only then continue)
sel disk 0
list part (is this really the right disk?)
clean
exit

If you can't boot successfully from win7 install dvd due to bad harddisk ... you can download Partition Wizard bootable CD and boot from it. Now do a "wipe disk"

Sorry for the delay. I had to go out for a while. No, I don't have to worry about any important files that I might loose. Just want to get my operating system back and working.

Thanks for your help, but I've decided to take my problem to my computer guy for him to take a look at it. # 22 started to get a little too complex for my capabilities.

Thanks for your help, in the end unused paragon recovery to save my files to an external hdd, used the minitools partition wizard as suggested and formatted my os partition and I was then able to simply reinstall a clean win 7 and update the drivers with my specific drivers disc. Thank you once again for your help, for a couple of days I was lost at sea there.

Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

You must get the Installation DVD (in tutorial) or Repair CD to boot to do the repairs. How to Boot your Computer from a Bootable CD or DVD . If it won't boot from BIOS Boot order, use the one-time Boot menu key given on first screen. If that fails, burn another DVD or Repair CD, or write to flash stick.

You also need to boot Windows Defender or similar before to disinfect or Win7 may not repair.

Ninety percent of the time a disk's failure to boot is due to User error not booting it correctly.
