I have been having this problem intermittently for some time. I can be connected at home to my wireless network fine and then something happens and i get 'wireless doesn't have a valid IP configuration'. Sometimes if i plug into the network (wired) the wireless will be fine again and sometimes (like now) not. I've tried disabling bonjour, 0ing the dhcpbroadcastflag, disabling the ipv6, resetting the adapter, rebooting, etc etc etc.
Here's the text of my ipconfig:

Your modem is administered by your ISP. When you connect a device to it in this case the router, your ISP will know this but it does not know what you want to do with it. Well it does but it doesn't assume you are going to setup a wireless network...

If you ISP has setup DHCP on your modem, you then need to do the same on your router. Is this done correctly?

I assume so - other laptops in the house connect to the wireless without issues...

Ok assuming it's just one laptop that is having issues.

When you plug the laptop into the router port for the first time the router does not recognize the MAC address and therefore would not allow you access (to obtain all DHCP IPs). you will need to make sure it does by what's call MAC Address Cloning. If you are connecting via wifi, is your Wifi MAC Filter set to Off?

Go into your router's webpage 192.168.1.1, and see what has been enabled or disabled.

There doesn't seem to be anywhere to check that in my router settings

Ok, connect back via wifi, check that your ipv4 setting are set to auto detect DHCP and make sure nothing is manually added. Then provide ipconfig details.

Did you ever find resolution. I have the exact same scenario it seems with other devices in the house having no problems connecting, and my laptop intermittently disconnecting and the only way I can get it fixed is to unplug the router to reboot it.
