I suspect that it may not be a Windows 7 problem but that the WLAN card is broken or my 3G dongle interfering. (See Dell Inspiron 1545: Unable to activate Wireless functionality - Tech Support Guy Forums )

you have to chose the right driver. Which one have you tried? If you give us the Service Code that may help narrow it down.

Hi ZTrucker

Thanks for helping me get the correct drivers - kept on getting stuck on the Dell website before on the Service Tag number as they said my warranty had expired. I was probably doing something stupid.

Installed the correct drivers but Alas! still no movement from the wireless adapter. Suspect s/he is dead as a doornail.

Which driver did you download and install? Are you sure it's the right one?

Thanks ZTrucker - I followed the links to the site you mentioned and downloaded a driver entitled R206848 which installed correctly (the others didn't when I downloaded the incorrect ones).

Did you change the Operating system to Windows 7 X64 first? The one you mention is not there then, only:

1st one: Dell Driver (Recommended) - R246753.exe
4th one: Marvel Driver (Recommended) -R230994.exe
5th one: Dell Driver (optional) R248337.exe

Looks like the image I posted is for Vista, not Windows 7. Sorry to have given you bad info. Try again setting the OS to Windows 7 X64 first.
