Wireless problem with laptop

Hello everybody.
My freind has a problem with his presario F500 compaq laptop with Windows 7. There is a connection to the router (can go to router page) but no connection to the internet.
He has tried troubleshooting network connection, rebooting ect.

Any more information needed please ask me.

Does the router have a connection to the internet ? what type of router is it ?

Sorry for the late reply, He's and idiot. He told me he installed the drivers, and he installed the drivers from his laptop which are old......... very old. I had to beg him to get it from the website.
Anyways, the problem is fixed. DAMN YOU STUPIDITY
