Hi,

I just bought a new Packard Bell computer with Win7 Home Premium 64bit yesterday.

After unpacking and doing all the settings I tried to connect to the internet.

My wireless network was found and everything was OK, but when I started IE it only said "connecting" on the page, and then that I the page cant be displayed.

Tried to disable TCP/IPv6, but no good.

All my other computers and the iPhone dont have a problem going online via this router (Thomson ST585v6).

ipconfig /all gives this:

It looks like your router is assigning it an address but it appears that the router is delivering any internet traffic to the system...

Are you part of a home, public, or work network?

Do an ipconfig /all from one of your other computers and compare the results. Let us know if there are any differences.

Just like I said above it appears that your router isn't giving the new computer any interent traffic...

Try to power-cycle the router and the new computer first. If that doesn't work than update the wireless drivers for the wireless card

You should also try connecting via ethernet, to see if it is just a wireless issue.

Power cycle the router means that I disconnect it from the plug? If yes, then I tried this already several times.:(

Driver for the Ralink card should be the newest, did a search via google, but no newer one came up.

@kegobeer:
I tried it with the ethernet cable as well this morning - no luck.

In the basic network information it says that everything is OK.

In the "Wireless Network Connetcion Status" ist says:

IPv4 Connectivity: ................ Internet
IPv6 Connectivity: ................ no network access
Media State: ....................... Enabled
SSID: ................................ hope68wlan
Speed: .............................. 54 Mbps
And the signal quiality is excellent.

And in the Activity it shows that bytes are sending and receiving.

Check mac address filters on router that may allow or deny internet access. Turn any filters found completely off, to test.

Check task manager for mdsnresponder.exe.

If you have that, it means Bonjour service. Google for how to effectively remove and let us know if it helped. If that doesn't we can reset the TCP/IP stack.

Have a look at hosts file. Only entry should be for localhost @ 127.0.0.1, unless you personally edited it.

Check mac address filters on router that may allow or deny internet access. Turn any filters found completely off, to test.

I'm a noob at this - so I checked on google and hope that I found the right way to check the filters. But everything was enabled, if I did it the right way.

Check task manager for mdsnresponder.exe.

If you have that, it means Bonjour service. Google for how to effectively remove and let us know if it helped. If that doesn't we can reset the TCP/IP stack.

No such a file in the task manager.

Have a look at hosts file. Only entry should be for localhost @ 127.0.0.1, unless you personally edited it.
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

There are two lines when I open the hosts-file:
127.0.0.1 localhost
::1 localhost

I didnt edit this file (never went that deep into my computer...)
On the old computer there is only the first line in this file.

Wow this is interesting. Have you tried static IP method? copy your IP settings from the machine that worked (their ipconfig /all).

Right - found an article how to change to static :)

But shall I change TCP/IPv6 or TCP/IPv4 to static?

The ipconfig /all details from the working machine are still the same as posted previous except the lease expire date.

Here is what it should look like based on your details.

You may need to shutdown the other machine if it has 192.168.1.64 as IP. No two mahines can use the one IP at the same time.

I followed the article but then I got a message that Windows has detected an IP address conflict, another computer in this network has the same IP address. I shall contact the network administrator for help resolving this issue. And more details are available in the Win System event log.
