wont let me delete a file : (

there is a .flv file on my desktop that i can't delete it...

i downloaded a zip file contains that .flv ... so i unzip it ....and the .flv was in a folder....and which i can delete that folder along with the .flv .... but i also made a copy of the .flv file onto my desktop ......and i could not delete that .flv : (

once i click on "delete"
it shows "Preparing to Recycle" from Discovering items
Time remaining: Calculating
Items remaining : Calculating
speed: Calculating

Hold shift + delet
Preparing to delete ....... the rest are the same as above


1: everytime i rename the file , = Windows Explorer is not responding ....
2: click on the .flv properties .... nothing happened....
3: run the .flv ....nothing happened...
4: try to replace with another file with a same name = doesn't work.
5: try to delete the file with del command ....= no luck : (
6: boot from safe mode ....still won't let me delete it
7: it won't let me move the .flv to other folders as well ....

please help me out

You could try using Unlocker
Its a great tool to delete or unlock files.

tried with unlocker ....no luck : ( ..

im pretty sure that .flv is not using by other program : )

Right Click > Properties > Change the Default program to something else then try to delete

when i right click on it .flv file > Properties ... nothing happened ....no properties window pop up

use malwarebytes unlock and delete function i use it to get rid of files that wont delete and programs it will remove the file from the system.

this will work trust me.

I had a problem this week with a J-peg file that would not delete. Every time I would go to delete it, it would say the file did not exist. When i tried to look at properties, it would open up but would say 0bytes and have no info about it. Rebooting didnt help, nothing helped. So I opened the folder the file was in with 7zip and right clicked the file and renamed the extension to a .txt file. I was then able to delete it.

Look under the Tools tab, It's called File Assassin.

um....7 zip doesn't work either ...i guess i just gonna hide the file for now .....by hiding the whole desktop folder ..and un"hidden" the files that i needed ...... thank you all


and here is something that i think what caused this to happen....
so far i believe that the .flv file is not using by other process....
so my guess is ...maybe something wrong with the file origin.

the person who created that .flv file on he/she's computer has a different file permission, on the file or it's origin folder when unzip , and because i made another copy onto the desktop , the permission is not longer exist , and that is why i cant rename , delete, move the file that is on my desktop

however i can delete the folder (also with the .flv in it) where the .flv was resided when i unzip the file.

Did you try using the file assassin, or are you doing something different now?

You could use the take ownership take ownership , once you run this reg file, right click the file, and select the take ownership option, then try to delete the file. Worse case scenario, reboot in safe mode, or safe mode with command prompt, then navigate to the file then delete. Let me know if you need help with synthax.
