I rarely go into Crashes/Debugging but was asked to look at this.

Suggest you Download and burn to CD free Partition Wizard bootable CD, boot it, select 1 for screen res, look at your partitioning and report back what is marked SYstem Active. Is it a separate boot partition from Windows 7, or is the WIn7 partition itself marked System Active?

It is possible if you have a separate boot partition that it is not functioning correctly and resisting Startup Repair. Try marking WIn7 active by rightclicking>Modify>Set to Active, OK, Apply Steps. Then reboot WIn7 DVD Repair console or Repair CD, click through to Recovery TOols list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times to write the MBR to the WIn7 partition to see if this will start it up.

If not, boot back into PW to rightclick Win7 partition>Explore to see if your files are intact.

Next highlight Win7 in list, on Disk tab choose Recover Partition and see what it reports.

There is no reason to abandon your data because PW is so reliable, once we verify your data is intact then if all else fails we can shrink the WIn7 partition by enough for a Rescue install to recover your files as was just achieved here: http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/86940-windows-7-boot-issue.html#post754300

I am here all day to help you so you can keep reports coming back on each step.
