I copied a couple of lines over to word at 20 points and shrunk it to 14 points and now I have a space in-between each line. My spacing is single and the space in-between each line will not delete?

Also in Excel I have 25 lines to my page no matter if it is 8 points or 20 points and atuo correct don't work so how can I get the Point size to match the line hight?

OK, two common situations, one for Word and one for Excel.

Word
Select the paragraph associated with the text then right-click and select Paragraph...
In the Paragraph dialog window set the Spacing > Before:, After: and Line spacing: as you desire.
Click OK.

Excel
If you are selecting the cells in the rows, setting the size, then selecting the rows and trying to use the auto-size function, it probably is not returning the result you expect (the auto size is fitting to the largest text point size in the row).

Instead, select the rows, then set the text point size; the row height should auto-adjust.

Note:
The row height needs to be larger than the text size to be readable, eg. 8-pt text needs 11 pt row height.

Here are some additional things you can try:

Open the document that you want single spaced. Open the Ribbon, go to Home, and in the Paragraph section click on the 'Line Spacing' icon.

First, be sure the spacing between the lines is checked where you want (i.e. 1.0 for single spaced, 2.0 for double spaced, etc.).

Then, if it is, at the bottom of the list click on “Delete space before line” and/or “Delete space after line.”

If that doesn’t correct the problem, click on 'Line Spacing Options' and on the first page (Indents and Spacing) reset your Spacing options. For single spaced, you want to set the spacing at 0 pt in both the Before and After boxes.

Take a look at the Preview of the text just below the Spacing section. Hopefully, it will look the way you wish, and if so, click OK.

You might also want to take a look at this tutorial for Word 2007. It will probably apply to Word 2010 also: Stop Word 2007 from adding space between lines
