Wordpad won't gives error message that it can't open document

Wordpad gives error message that it can't open document

My documents are saved as .docx files. When I try to open one, an error message appears: "Wordpad
cannot open this file."


Could someone lend a hand here? I would very much appreciate it.

The message indicates that WordPad cannot open files that have been saved in the .docx format.

To open a file with this extension, you would need a Word Processor application.

Right click on one of your .docx files and select Properties. What program is set to open it?

If it's not Word, Click on Change. If Word isn't suggested, then check inOther Programs and, if Word is listed, select it. If it's not, you'll need to find the WinWord.exe for Word and add it. On this system, it's here-
