WPA-PSK problem

I have a Windows 7 desktop. I recently acquired a new router from talktalk, which only has WPA/WPA2-PSK encryption. Previously, I used WEP on a belkin router, and my Windows 7 responded to this encryption obviously. However, recently, when I changed routers, Windows 7 doesn't recognise my router. The only way I can connect is if I hold the WPS button on my router for my desktop to identify. I connect successfully, but even then I have an x at the bottom next to the signal - even though I'm connected - and there is an x next to my network name, saying "The setting saved on this computer ...do not match the requirements of this network". I tried using Windows Update to see if there's a new driver for my adapter, but there isn't. I have tried tinkering with Device Manager, but to no avail. The only compatible driver is an 802.11 ralink driver, which was designed in 2009, yet there's no update. Everything works fine on my Windows 8 laptop - and my father's windows 7 laptop. Please help.

When you click on the signal strength meter in your system tray, do you see your network? Right click it and select properties, set to WPA2-Personal and AES, check the security key. In the adapter properties, internet protocol version 4 properties, advanced button, add the router address as the default gateway.

Connect your desktop PC via an ethernet cable to the router and check the Router paperwork for its address which will likely be 192.168.1.1 and see if you can coonect that way. If the wireless adapter worked with the old Belkin router then you have the right driver. The driver is to make the wireless adapter work in Windows 7. It makes no difference what Router you have!

It is a Router specific to the TalkTalk ISP as the OP has said. Just Google Talk Talk Router! It's made for Talk Talk by a Company called Bishop and Co in the UK.

Yeah, I can change the encryption, but it's already set to AES. On my router page, I have my wireless settings set to WPA/WPA2 mixed mode. I have an option to make it mixed, WPA only, or WPA2 only.

On wireless mode, it's set to B/G/N. Could that be the problem?

Dont make it complicated connect it to the computer open the router page and on the left side you will be seeing WPS just disable it and change the name again connect and see

Normally you would go into the Network and Sharing Center, then look left to "Manage Wireless Connections" where all of your previous wireless profiles are located.

It's best to simply delete or remove the old profiles then create a new one with the same SSID, security, password and encryption that the new router has been set up to use.

The WPS button isn't made for this, it's there to allow easier access to the new router when it's being set up on a network for the first time.
