i cannot seem to get my xerox phaser 6280 printer to work with windows 7. as indicated on the xerox website, i downloaded the updated driver. however, midway through the extraction process (running the 6280WinXP03V_PS.exe file), it stops and gives me this message: "Windows can't open Add Printer. Operation could not be completed (error 0x0000007e)."

has anyone encountered this problem before? and if so, i'm hoping that someone has found a resolution to it.

any help would be very much appreciated!!

p.s. - i forgot to say that the printer shows up under device and printers and has a check mark on it which i assume implies it's ready to use. i'm able to print from adobe, notepad and paint but i'm unable to print from any office small business 2007 applications or any website page.

In Windows 7, the new Xerox Phaser 6280N Printer will not print over the network for Microsoft Office Word 7 or Internet Explorer 8, although it will print a test page, a paint page, or an Adobe.pdf file.

I recently purchased and installed a new Xerox Phaser 6280N printer on both my PC and laptop. Since 2006, my PC has been running Windows XP, and my laptop has been running Windows 7 since Christmas last year. Wireless LAN is used to connect the printer. When I send information from my computer to the printer, it prints perfectly. The printer is properly installed on my laptop, as evidenced by the printout of a test sheet indicating that the installation was successful. The printer can also print from a paint software or an Adobe.pdf file.
