I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64 RTM 7601, I have virtualization and Bios is enabled. I installed the XP mode fine, took less than a min. But when I try to install the Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu I get a message from the standalone installer saying that "this update is not applicable to your computer". I tried googling this but could not find a resolution.

Can anybody help me understand why its not installing?

Question 2) if I don't need to install the virtual machine, how do I find it on my comp? Its not anywhere.

(Windows6.1-KB958559-x64-RefreshPkg.msu) is the Windows Virtual PC

(Windows6.1-KB977206-x64.msu) is the Windows XP Mode Update

I have also run the systems update readiness tool, which did not help, though it did update something.

Please help!

Thanks!!

Sorry, you are right, I can't install step 5 which is the windows virtual PC.

And yes, I can run the XP mode with out the virtual PC but I also installed Windows 7 IE8 and Windows Vista IE7 from Download: IE App Compat VHD - Microsoft Download Center - Download Details

and I need the Windows virtual PC to set sharing of my router to use the internet on those versions. Unless I am doing something wrong, I just can't figure out why the virtual PC isn't downloading- my computer fits all the requirements.

:-P
