Your first pc?

First computer was bought in the early 80's. The mighty 8088.
2 x 5.25 floppy drives and NO Hdd. Dos & Basic. Spent a fortune to get a RGB screen. Real flash, lol.



Next we bought a second one which was the Apple IIe.





On a side note and NOT to start a flaming war..............

1982: 1st computer virus to escape into the wild, Elk Cloner, runs through Apple



1986: Jan.: (c)Brain, 1st virus for IBM-compatible PCs, written by Pakistani brothers & spreads around world

Zenith Z-110, Low profile

First home computer

Zenith introduced the revolutionary Z-100 computer in mid-1981.
Targeted for professionals, etc...

The keyboard had a wonderful "feel" and "stroke action" that Byte Magazine columnist and fiction author Jerry Pournelle raved about in several columns.

• Dual processors: 8085 and 8088
• Available with CP/M and Z-DOS (non-IBM compatible MS-DOS variant)
• Five S-100 expansion slots
• Two 320KB 40-track double-sided 5.25-inch Floppy disk drives. Socket enabled direct plug-in of external 8-inch floppies.
• 2x serial ports (2661 UART), one Centronics printer port (discrete TTL chips), light pen port
• 640x225 bitmap display. 8 colors (low-profile model), or monochrome upgradable to 8 greyscales (all-in-one).
• Base 128k RAM, expandable to 192K on-board, to 768K with S-100 cards. (Video RAM was paged into the 64K block above 768K).

The Z-100 had superior graphics to the contemporary CGA (640x200 monochrome bitmap or 320x200 4-color), IBM Monochrome Display Adapter (80x25 text-only), and arguably even the Hercules Graphics Card (720x348 monochrome). Early versions of AutoCAD were released for the Z-100 because of these advanced graphics.

The Wikipedia articles are WRONG - there was NO Z80 cpu. Should read '8085' in place of Z80.

But, that's to be expected from the internet (BS, MS, and PhD)....

Mine had a 450 Mhz processor,64mb ram and a 16 mb videocard,that's all i can remember!

1st - Atari 400 and MPP-1000C modem.
2nd - Atari 800XL
3rd - Atari 130XE
4th - Atari 520ST
5th - Panasonic XT
6th - Cumulus 486
7th - Compaq something or other desktop
8th - Dell 4300 desktop
5th - HP dv2715 laptop (current)

Don't recall the years for all of those.

Before that I worked on IBM System 360 and System 370 mainframes running MVS, VTAM and JES2. Does anybody know what an initiator is?

I had approximate same computer I bought when i got out of basic training brand new for $500 I thought i got a hella deal. One thing was that I did not have a slot to upgrade RAM thing was indestructable and lasted forever, at least i made it last forever.
