Took 5 minutes and my audio is working flawlessly

The link for the Vista 64 bit driver did not work but the updated working link is Conexant AC97 Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit) - HP Business Support Center

Other tips

Thanks this worked on my HP zv6000.
My tip to get modem and memory card reader drivers is to use DriverMax Agent from drivermax.com. Its free to download 2 drivers a day. After you have searched for installed driver updates then do a search for unknown hardware. It didn't sort the sound card though hence I needed the solution in this post.
Also worth a mention if you have unsigned drivers you can install VistaBootPlus (that also works on Windows 7). Then choose advanced settings and click Disable Vista Driver Signing and apply settings and reboot
