Hello,

I have a HP Pavillion dv6-2190us and I am a BSOD issue.

I have done a memory test and hard drive test. Both have passed.

After running the "sfc /scannow", the result was "Windows Resource Protection
did not find any integrity violations."

The intervals between crashes are incredibly varied. Sometimes I can use the computer for a week. Sometimes I can can use it for 5 minutes.

The only solid lead that I have found so far points to an anti-virus issue. This made my wonder if Zonealarm could cause similar issues. I compared the date of the first crash(by looking at windows/minidump) and the date I installed Zonealarm. I installed Zonealarm May 27th. The first crash occured May 31st. I was finally able to uninstall Zonealarm(without the BSOD before completing). It has not crashed since, but it has only been about 30 minutes. It will sometimes crash right away and sometimes it will work fine for an extended period of time.

Any further help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Hello Jonathan, pleased to meet you.

I see a few issues. First, I see that Norton is/was installed. Please remove it with this tool, or use the tool to clean up if it is already uninstalled: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/englis...moval_Tool.exe

Replace it with the free Microsoft Security Essentials: www.microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Your Intel RAID drivers are out of date, and there is a good chance that is indeed the issue. Be sure to update them from the computer manufacturer's site.

Also update your LSI Fusion-MPT drivers.

If the BSODs continue after those steps are completed, enable driver verifier: Using Driver Verifier to identify issues with Drivers

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
        use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.
