Try doing it again. Does it crash? the BSOD is not necessarily caused by what you are doing at the time.

For the past 1 day , it occurred at random period. All of them occurred when i happened to browse control panel.

In my background , i'm running firefox and MSN. I just installed AVG as well.

Hmm , I have no idea what went wrong because everything was like so smooth except this issue.

This isn't really relevant, but it was so funny that I had to post it.

While reading this, Windows Explorer crashed on me also. I swear, this topic is jinxed! :p

Could you go into event viewer (type event viewer in search) and see if there are errors related to this in the application tab? If so tell us\

I've got a control panel that causes a "process to stop running" every time I open it.

In my case it was from installing a piece of hardware using a driver that was not Windows 7 specific. I don't know which one yet as I haven't reinstalled 7 to find out.

Seems probably that one of the control panel items is faulty. Though it's not as easy as just removing the icons one by one like upi might for any mnormal folder. You MIGHT be able to go rename each of the .cpl files one by one (though they don't actually have to have a .cpl extension)

Or.. the way to realy tell is to do a fresh 7 install and then install each piece of hardware one by one. Unless it does it right out of a fresh install.

Is it DUI70.dll each time? I am trying to focus on your particular issue.

This may sound strange - humor me. Change your theme to Windows Classic, boot, try browsing Control Panel again. This is a test, not a proposed fix.

DUI? Driver Under the Influence??? That'll make you crash, all right. This should be a first, a peripheral going to rehab ...

DirectUI - little documentation that I can find. I suspect a connection to Aero but the OP is out.

I am looking into some of the obscure issues, ignoring peripheral input in the threads and really trying to dissect the cause. This is not my forte. I am on a steep learning curve. Got any dope on DirectUI?

Ok. I just tried Windows Basic and Windows Classic.

Both got that problem as well , the DUI70.dll

OK. I am finding little data on the DUI70.dll. I thought I had found a connection to Aero. I cannot unreg it on my machine, suspect the same with you. I find two different reports of the same problem that self-corrected, but I do not believe in "self-corrections".

Have we booted in safe mode and opened Control Panel?

Also, can you cascade Control Panel on your Start Menu, launch each CPL and check if an individual CPL is causing crash?

Here are the findings :

Safe mode and navigating control panel -> No problem.

Control panel in cascading menu and open each CPL -> No problem.
