All my audio works in my Win 7 with the exception of Pinnacle's Studio 14.
I have a Soundblaster X-HiFi which is ASIO which is what Studio use to work with until updating to Win 7.

HELP!
Thanks,
Bob Scott

One thing that seems to be different in Win-7, audio is not multi-client when using ASIO. If anything else is using or has a hold on the SB X-HiFi, ASIO will probably not function and vice-versa, once ASIO is working all other audio will be locked out.

If you right click on the MS speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices... is the ASIO output device listed there?

Off to a gig, will check back later-

No sound in Pinnacle 14

I paid for this answer from pinnacle and can't believe this is not readily available on a support forum.

If you have no sound while in your Pinnacle 14, click on the windows speaker icon on the lower right corner of your screen. Then click on the word "mixer." If you have a Pinnacle program open, you will see a volume bar asociated with it. In my case, that volume was turned all the way down. Turn it up by clicking on it and sliding it upwards....presto - sound.

No sound in AVID

I have had the same issues with Studio 14 and now with the latest version. Spent alot of time with tech support @ Avid with no solution. Any help out there?

Running Windows 7 with 8 G ram . AMC quad core A6-3620. 750 GB hard drive free.
Pinnacle tutorial shows window with many choices of microphones. Actual Pinnacle window shows NNOO choice of mikes.
Over and over users complain and no real solution.

It would appear to be a Pinnacle issue rather than a Windows issue.

I had problems with Pro Tools MP9 recognizing an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R (USB), but it was the device's driver that was the problem, not Windows.

I also had a problem at one time, with Sonar 8.5.3 and Windows 7 with a SoundBlaster Xfi sound card installed. It was blocking my recording interface unit (a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 at the time) and I had to uninstall the SoundBlaster sound card so my Saffire Pro 40 worked without issues.

I have Studio HD 15. Like many others, my sound didn't work in the program. After trying all the fixes with mixer settings, volume control, etc...I found a fix for something else that peaked my interest.

Most modern motherboards in PC's today have on-board sound. Most video cards today also have sound hardware for HD sound output though their HDMI ports as well. That means a PC that has a motherboard (all of them), a video card, and a sound card can have 3 different hardware sound solutions in them.

So why is this important ? I found a simple fix from AVID to get sound to work in Studio HD for systems with multiple sound cards (even though the common thought would be I have the one Xonar STX card installed).

I implemented the fix, and voila...my Pinnacle StudioHD program has sound again. Here's a link to AVID's fix...

:D THANKS SO MUCH... your solution worked. In my case I use Avid Studio (same as Pinnacle) and the mixer slider tied to my avid software had the mute button on. How this happened, I have no idea, but I do know windows had just done a update overnight, and my avid software was still running on the system at the time, so maybe that is how it was changed????? just a guess.
