Hi,

You may want to try the following...

1, Open Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options
2, Click the Advanced tab then Restore Advanced Settings followed by Reset

Internet Options.PNG

3, Click Start > Default Programs then Set program access and computer defaults

Default Programs.PNG

4, Click the arrow dropdown on the right of the Current Default (normally 'Custom') selection and select Email Preferences

Set Program Access and Computer Defaults.PNG

   Note
Make sure that Allow Access is check for whatever program you are setting at the default

Hope this helps :)

Now the final version of IE9 is out: Beauty of the Web
Perhaps that will give you a good copy of IE9. But before installing anything else I'd do:
c: (properties): Disk cleanup. Also, Error Checking(Tools tab) [happens at next boot].
sfc /scannow [in command prompt window].

Go to Windows Update to get up to date, including SP1 (if not done already).

At this point you may find IE8 available or at least listed under Programs and Features/Windows Features so you can choose it.

If all is ok with IE8 and SP1, then you're ready for IE9.
