I have been denied my Windows Live Mail connection to Talktalk for best part of a week now. I have been unable to receive or send any emails. I have been forced to use a webmail facility which I do not like.
I receive a number of varied error messages:-
Some errors occurred when processing the requested tasks:-
Server: smtp.talktalk.net
Windows Live Mail Error I D : 0x80070057
Protocol: SMTP
Secure (SSL): No
The last message reads:-
Server Error: 0x800CCC90
Server: mail.talktalk.net
Windows Live Mail Error I D:0x8000CCC92
Protocol: POP3
Port:110
Secure (SSL): No

I would be obliged if someone can rectify this fault OR if the answer is in my own hands, advise me what actions to take.
Hamish

Talktalk.net should have detailed instructions as to how to set up each tab of the properties for their mail server (username, password, need for authentication, need for security...). If all that is correct, it may be that you are trying to use a feature of WLM that requires you to "sign-in" such as Photo Email which uses your Windows Live Sky Drive. In that case don't use the feature or sign in to WLM with your LiveID.

Thank you roncerr for the reply. I updated my computer and programs last October to Windows 7 64 bit and was introduced to Windows Live Mail. I am unaware that I "signed up" for Windows Live Mail at the time but I have been able to send /receive emails since then using this facility; however, I have lost this facility for the last week and constantly receive varied error messages. So far Talktalk have been most unhelpful in assisting me to rectify the fault.
My Talktalk 'Properties' are in the main correct BUT under 'Server' I have no password and am unable to enter a password. Re Outgoing Server - Requires Authentication - the box is unticked.
Of late I have been downloading and installing multiple programs associated with Flight Simulation but have failed to achieve success creating new airfields. I am of the opinion that certain aspects of these programs were incompatible with my Windows 7 64 bit set up (at least without a bit of tinkering about) and have now uninstalled the lot.
I am unaware that I am infected with any virus' etc etc.
I remain convinced that the answer lies in Talktalk's hands and if so, I may shame them into providing some customer servce as against being fobbed off. There are fairies at the bottom of my garden! Hamish

If you get with your isp they can walk you through setting WLM back up, I have a feeling it's something very simple that your overlooking, as in one of the boxes not ticked or one of the ports is wrong.

...under 'Server' I have no password and am unable to enter a password...
You should be able to enter your password if talktalk reqiires one. If you can't there must be something wrong with WLM. If you are using the current 2011 version it has at least one bug in junk mail filtering that requires a repair. Go to Programs and Features, highlight Windows Live Essentials, press the "repair" button at the top and choose "repair" in the next window. It will repair all installed components of Essentials, including Mail.

For the attention of roncerr and 1Bowtie, I have finally spoken to someone at Talktalk who has acknowledged a fault exists at their end. Steps now in place for this fault to be rectified. Thanks again for your help. Hamish
