Hi everyone. Ordinary teenager here. I left my laptop on for a day or so while I was off with friends and it seems as though the system overheated. I can boot my computer with absolutely no difficulty, but upon reaching my desktop, the screen will begin freezing or turning black. In the bottom right corner, a message about an unresponsive Intel Media Graphics Accelerator pops up. After a few minutes of this, I'll Blue Screen. It'll reboot and the cycle repeats.

I know there's nothing horribly wrong or fried because I'm posting from the computer now in safe mode and everything works just fine. From here, I made sure my driver was up to date, tried to reboot normally and it still won't work.

My first thought was to post here for help. I read the rules for these threads and it asks for me to zip together that jcgriff thing and a perfmon log, but perfmon can't run in safe mode and outside of safe mode, my laptop is incapable of anything so I could only attach the former.

My Computer is an HP-G71 Notebook running Windows 7 64-bit, Home Premium which came installed on the system when I bought it a little less than a year ago.

This is about all the information I can provide, but I figure the Bluescreenviewer program that people seem to use often around here might come in handy. I'll post that log below. If there's anything else I can provide that would lead to a more complete or swift answer, please ask me and I'll go to the ends of the Earth to provide it. :P

Thank you all so much in advance. I hope you can revive my buddy. :)

I have updated my driver to the best version via the Intel driver utility. I have also verified that my DirectX is up to date. The problem persists.

I'd like to clarify that that's what you wanted. I'm not sure how to completely uninstall and then reinstall a graphics driver... If that's what you wanted me to do, could you please tell me exactly how to? I'm sorry I'm not incredible with computers...

UPDATE: I took a leap of faith with no real advice and just went into devmgr and uninstalled everything in the Display Adapters section. Cleaned with CCleaner and booted. The problem was resolved! The computer runs well and close to normally. The resolution and overall graphical quality of everything on screen was... less than stellar. But it worked.

The first thing to appear upon reaching the desktop was the driver installation icon in the taskbar. It was reinstalling the old video drivers I just got rid of. Thinking that that meant it was going to replace them entirely and fix any issues, I went ahead and restarted my system. Upon reaching the desktop again, the old problem came right back.

Needless to say I was pissed. But anyway, I feel like I'm making progress thanks to you guys' help. If I uninstall and clean all the drivers while in Safe Mode, I can safely boot normally. From there I'm stuck because I can't stop Windows from reinstalling the drivers. What should I do next? Again, thanks a TON for helping me thus far. :D

I followed your directions to the letter. Made sure it was the proper driver download from HP, uninstalled everything, reinstalled, restarted, all that jazz. Upon reaching the desktop, The same balloon about the driver not responding came up. Along with the usual black flickers, I got some other glitches; cubes of green and gray in various places, disappearing taskbar... All that. The one thing I'm happy to announce though is that the bluescreens seem to have stopped. The computer just completely locks up after a long enough session of freaking out. I guess I can still call this progress... But it's not fixed. Still totally unusable outside safe mode unless I come to safe mode and uninstall everything first... Any other ideas?

Again, I've followed your directions to good results. :) Thank you.
I've once again booted into normal mode with no problems after following your directions in safe mode. My computer's graphical quality is still not equal to what it was before the problems started and I don't know if my computer will continue to work this well after a restart. Before I restart to check, do you have any other things I should try?

Remember the most important is to stop the BSOD,for the rest its easy way.
In mormal mode (not in safe mode)
Right click on desktop and look if you can change in better resolution.

If you updated the graphic driver,chipset,DirectX,then...
Set the resolution in what you always have it and restart.

Okay, so I just kind of fooled around and I think I've fixed it. I noticed that ever uninstalling the driver in devmgr would cause Windows to reinstall it in order to always have a driver going. This meant that none of my attempts to uninstall, despite anything, would ever really uninstall it. So what I did was this:

I uninstalled it while cued up on the Intel Driver Update Utility and immediately began a download of a new driver while Windows was attempting to install the bad one. Upon acquiring the .exe, I followed it's directions up until the point where it would install the new driver. Then, I immediately went into devmgr and killed the old driver, following that by immediately triggering the new driver's installation. The new driver's installation beat out Windows with the old one and Windows read a new driver as being in place and thus cancelled it's own installation.

I restarted and, much to my surprise, everything is back to normal. I really didn't expect it to work, but it seems to have. I'm going to keep this thread open so that I can restart once more and see if I've really fixed the problem. Once I'm sure I've fixed, or once I'm sure I've failed, I'll post back. Thanks for your continued help! :)

The automatic driver update utility isn't finding anything. It doesn't even say I have a graphics driver on my computer. I guess because I've uninstalled it. After seeing this, I tried to go into the download center and find the right driver. I did Laptop, Graphics Drivers, Windows 7 Home Premium, downloaded every available option and ALL of them said my "system lacked the minimum requirements" Or something along those lines...

I did restore to before crashes. No affect.
No, I did not. If I did, I DEFINITELY don't know where it is. >_>
It says I can press ESC for some options. And, obviously, I've been using F8 to boot into Safe Mode.

About to try the procedure you just posted. Will post back soon.

The Driver Update Utility still fails to find anything. None of the downloads work manually, either. Same error. Should I just try to System Restore back even further? I'll do anything to make this thing work again.

Ok lets do a full recovery,go here and choose the:Restore the PC to its original condition with the HP Recovery Manager
If you like write down or print the steps.
And notice that in the HP website:
WARNING: This is the final opportunity to change your mind about recovering the PC and deleting all the files and programs. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped.
IMO Lets start with that
Reinstall specific drivers or applications
With HP recovery manager you have lots and helpfully choices.
Well are you ready? First lets do that:
Reinstall specific drivers or applications
