I first had COD 4 when I had Vista. It worked. Then I got Windows 7 7000 but I did not try it on that. Now I Have Windows 7 7100, I installed it and without a single problem I ran both SP and MP including PB and everything. When it comes to games all you want to do is make sure you are running as an administrator. Go to the game's folder, for search bar type in exe. Then for each exe file in their, right click, properties, compatibility tab, and check Run As Administrator. For MP you need a microphone plugged in if you want to speak to others. Update all your graphics. There you go.

it shows me this: The version of this file is NOT compatible with the windows version you are running. check your computers system inf. to see wheter you need 32bit or 64 bit version of the programm

If you downloaded the official RC from Microsoft then it should be 7100, if not then you can check by clicking on the start orb and type winver and hit enter and should be on the first line.

Also if you want to play online then you will need build 7100 or 7127

Ok, none of that works, the solution is simple, just wait for Evenbalance to get off their arse. The only reason your kicked is because of Windows 7 API being completely different than Vista or XP. You can't patch it, or hack it, because then it detects the altered files and thus detecting a false cheat. The reason it looks for API is because some hackers alter their API to speed up their game to give them an "edge."
Evenbalance likes to sit on their larals anyways, so just wait. Most likely when RTM comes they will get to it, that way they don't have very very mad customers when Retail comes out...you would think.

Not sure who you are replying to but as stated above and by many others, The Official RC and the leaked 7127 build after were the only builds that did not result in API kicks, IMO no other build until RTM will work because Punkbuster doesn't have the official access to them and therefore they wont be supported.

Just to clarify...the new RC will not cause PB problems correct? I have it downloaded, just dont know which version it is. But either way, it will be 7100 or 7127 correct?

Im ready to stat playing on PB servers now...

Yes that's correct, no problems with either of those 2 builds as long as your Punk buster is up to date.

He's right, im using 7127, and i updated my PB, and it is clear sailing for me , anything after, results in a boot =.=

Status update: So far I have not been kicked after following T3CHWORKS Windows7 too. What did it I think is the interact with desktop. I noticed COD4 changes the desktop to classic view instead of Aero...that might be what is causing the API. If you kicked, try switching your theme to classic. Its a try anyways. So far so good. That and the PB update too!

Hi.

My problem is this. When I play Call of Duty 4 online, i get kicked out of the servers and it shows me this: "Unknown Windows API Function" "API Kick 131136".

I googled it and i found out this "Known cause: Running BF2 in compatability mode
Solution: Disable compatabilty mode, do not run other programs in compatability mode at the same time." I dont know what to do to get the game work.

I bought Call of duty 4 today and this computer last week so Im little lost :S Could anyone help me?

I tried to install cod4 on windows 7 build 7264, it says windows cant access specific device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to acess the item. It worked the last time I installed it and I havnt reinstalled my computer. It used to have the auto run and icon and everything. When I tried to load the set up through the folder it self, it stops and says verify the pah of the file then asks me to abort or retry, like most cases retry doesn't work, so I'm forced to abort it

Can anyone try my method on 7600.16385??
-Install clean copy od win7 without formatting
-Browse in C:/windows.old/Program Files/Activision and move "Call of Duty 4" folder in c:/ProgramFiles/
-DO NOT reinstall call of duty 4 or pb services (pbsvc.exe) -dunno about pbsetup.exe-
-Launch the game, enter your mp cd key in multiplayer options, open console and type /seta con_gameMsgWindow0FadeInTime "0"
-Try the game and feedback here!!

Any other methods works?
