Vaio VPCCW17FX Suddenly Freezing - No error logged

Hello;

I have a Vaio VPCCW17FX laptop, Windows 7. We had a storm and lost power yesterday morning, but had no evidence of a power surge, everything we have tested in the house still functions fine.

I've been using my laptop a lot in the last day and twice now I have had it just freeze while I was using it. Both times I was in chrome typing a message on facebook. It just froze solid, when I did a Ctr-Alt-Delete, it just rebooted.

I've had this for over a year and a half and I can remember maybe one other time that it actually just froze on me, and that was quite a while ago. Now it's been twice in 24 hours. So I'm a bit concerned about the potential for it having been damaged somehow from the storm, even though it seems unlikely as other things don't appear to have suffered.

Upon reboot; I checked the even viewer and there were not system errors prior to the crash. I've included the copy of the event below that was recorded upon reboot.

Any thoughts on what might be going on or how I might be able to diagnosis what is happening?

Hi Jamie,

What we would want to do is get your system to blue screen on purpose so we can get a minidump file to look at and for you to be able to do a proper collection of data that we can look at.

HI;

I didn't get time to run the program to try and crash it the other day, and it ran fine for a few days, then late yesterday it started freezing up again. Then then one of the times it froze, it did a BSOD for me after I rebooted. Now it has been up and running again for a couple hours without any problems. Most of the times when it has froze I've been typing on facebook, now I've trying to get myself into the habit of typing into google docs because it saves right away.

I collected the information per your instruction page and attached the zip file.

- What is the age of system (hardware)?
Dec 2009 -- under 2 years old.

- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)
Same - have not re-installed.

Looking through the dump files you have drivers that are the main reason for the bsod's your computer drivers need to be updated to the latest versions especially your graphics driver and intel storage drivers. An easy way for you to see which drivers and names for your drivers that needs to be updated is to download the little exe I have attached to this post and run it. After it runs it will send you to a web page that will tell you all the outdated drivers and their names from which you can google them and go to the manufacturer's website and get your new drivers and please install them all.
