User Profile Service failing

Hi,

I have Win7 RC1 and have been loving it from the start.

In the past week I have run into an issue where I can't load my user profile, typically after an update from Windows Update. I get to the login screen, enter my password, and then Windows says, "The User Profile Service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded" and returns me to the login screen. Doing a system restore has worked the two times it has happened, however I wonder if anyone can give me some insight on what I might do to keep this happening in the future.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Shawn:

Thanks for the note and the link. I can't help but wonder if I might not have a HD or RAM issue. I saw the same problems on this machine with Vista loaded. Just seems odd that it happens mostly after software installs or windows updates.

Thanks.

Chris

Anything specific from those that you install when this usually happens?

Not that I have been able to tell yet. I'll try the windows update again and see if it causes the problem.

Thanks.

Hi.

Did you upgrade to the RC or clean install?

Do you have a lot of data in your profile?

As a last resort before rebuilding (if it comes to that) you can log in as another admin and blow away your profile and have it recreate the default one.

I can walk you thru this is it resorts to that.
