I had bought an internal hd (500gb) an year back but due to some reason my motherboard was not detecting it. So I bought a case and made it external.
Now yesterday I bought a 2tb ext hard disk . So I thought that I should get rid of my internal 160 gb hard disk and remove the case of the 500 gb one and make it internal.

Now I want to format the 500gb.
Right now it is external but I'll be using it as internal. So I'm worried to format it just like that.
Is there a software for proper formatting of a drive or should I format it through the right click option.
If through the right click option then what should be the type ?
NTFS(default) or exFAT ?
And what should be the allocation unit size ?
There are many of them .

P.S. If I'm posting this in wrong section then please move to the proper one.

Thnx

Format it via the right click way,and if you want choose full format for safety, the the type is NTFS Default, and the size will be filled in by the pc automaticly,so just leave that as it is. There are other softwares to use,but this way is the fastest. If you want you can format it when you boot up you pc,via the bios setup. But doing it the right click way will be easier.

Good luck

Right clicking is OK, or you can use Windows Disk Management.

Use NTFS.

The default allocation size is probably 4096---that's fine.
