i've said it once before, i'll say it again:

USA != Center of the world

Downloading in many countries of whatever is legal, distribution however is, illegal.

Case in point: In the netherlands you pay a tax on recording material. This tax goes to an organization which pays it out to copyright holders. Equal parts for everyone.

So in the netherlands the downloading of copyrighted material is legal for personal use.

Anthropocentric thinking is perhaps a general human fault, it doesn't justify it though.

Downloading is not legal in most of the world???? Where have you been? The Pirate Bay is where? In the Netherlands I think? Its not in the USA but the world courts ruled against the Pirate Bay...........Jeez if your going to argue have facts to back it up please,

So if its legal then why the raids by the police? Why was it shut down?

Also thousands have been targeted in the UK for illegal downloading, how do I know? I lived outside of London for a year that's how!

this site should make an effort to stop posts about stealing software by cracks and loaders, anything that is not a legal way to activate the product.

I'm done but sad to see such posts.

the pirate bay was judged in absence for completely different reasons then downloading individually WINDOWS 7, you should read the Jugdement Pirate Bay including downloading illegal Windows 7 not the newspapers.

I think that you may miss this but the MODS and ADMINS are very strict about such practices...I feel confident in saying that you will see less or none at all about methods of infiringing copyright on 7 than in other websites

You are of course correct, however, as an administrator of a site which had in excess of 13,000 members ( Samurize.com ) you have absolutely no idea of how much work it is to stay on top of everything that gets posted in a forum. Instead of being an arm chair quarterback, try being supportive of the SF staff instead...

rant was necessary...Tews you can understand from personal experience. Remember that John runs Vistax64, sevenforums, thechromeosforums, and theeightforums. I don't really know how he does it all and lives a relatively normal life

Just out of curiousity when windows is officially released will we be able to upgrade our old rc, rtm and beta builds or will we need to do clean installs. I'm running build 7201 whats the likely hood ill have to clean install :|

Officially, MS says no, however I have heard that there are ways to do it... that being said, it is always advisable to do a clean install IMHO ...

Wow, what a talking point (albiet a diversion into copyright). Microsoft should really be proud of their creation and paid well for it.

I for one agree, that this is an OS I am willing to pay for (I bought Linux Boxed editions in the past - before we had high download speeds). All my other Windows OS's came with the computer(s).

It improves old hardware and it will run brilliantly on my home computer. A core i7 6GB (upgrading to 12 GB) rig with HD4870 and 10,000 rpm HDD.

I'll be curious to know how it runs in a Pentium M 1.6 Ghz (1.5 GB) with ATI Mobile 9000 graphic Laptop (T41)

I'm not so sure we shouldn't allow discussions about cracks and or alternative ways to to achieve end results.

Before we get into the whole stealing vs copyright infringement argument as you really are not stealing anything. I think this more of a moral decision. This site and no one else can or should make a moral decision for you.

There are legitimate reasons why people do things. I can't go into all of them but situation arise.

So to the point I think cracks and other methods or circumvention should be allowed to be discussed. I do not think we should post links or PM with said applications on this site.
People can use Google and make that moral decision.
