How Do I Move My "Documents" Folder To The Desktop Like It Was In XP?

The Library concept is interesting but cumbersome for what I do. The only thing I have been able to do is create a shortcut to my librarie's "Document" folder.
I want the "Documents" Folder on my Desktop.

But I'm not sure...:sarc:

You can make a folder on the desktop saying "My Documents"

Then go to Start--> Open the "Your user name" folder. The "My Documents" folder in there, right click on it and go to properties.

There should be something about "Target"

Click Browse and point it to the "My Documents" folder you created on your desktop. Click ok.

If this has helped you, please rep.

Creating the shortcut is IMO the best possible solution, if you don't want to relocate the documents folder. OP mentioned "like it was in XP". In XP it was just a shortcut to My documents folder.

I beg to differ, simply because he wants the "My Documents" on the desktop.

I have done this with my "My Pictures" and other folders to link it to a folder on a secondary hard drive.

/shrug

I guess if he wanted the shortcut, he would have done it.

How does your method differ from creating a shortcut? You just create a link (shortcut?) on desktop, while the folder stays where it is.

I read OP once more. The poster wants it "like it was in XP". XP had a My Documents shortcut on desktop, linked to documents folder. My answer was exactly what OP asked, do it like it was in XP.

Kari

EDIT: Question answered. Unsubscribing.

Well I guess he could just create the shortcut and have the shortcut icons removed so he won't know its a shortcut xD

Edit:

but does he want to MOVE documents folder to the desktop...

I think that he wants to show it on desktop, like My Computer, without a shortcut arrow.
