the new Wolfenstein game

I played that game so much that, the last few times I'd play it, I was literally going against the clock to see how fast I could finish it. I remember knowing the hidden places by heart!

How was Spear of Destiny anyways? I never even had a chance to take a look at that one. By then of course 3DRealms had their own originals for Duke Nukem and Nukem 2.

It was pretty good. It was more of the same, with extra enemies and bigger levels.

Although there was one particular new enemy that had a shotgun in it's chest and was completely silent until it started shooting at you. I hated that one

The links posted at the top of the thread give you some idea. I won't know how has been changed besides the updated effects until getting the game on soon enough! Once I get into a few maps I may be able to grab a few screens.

Played it for a bit (first map) at my friends house, can honestly say that I am not looking forward to playing it... Why?

Well, I saw my daughter playing Lego Star Wars the other day on the 360, she was happy getting all the studs and buttons and hearts, etc, etc instead of actually slicing away at the bots or bosses, then it hit me... same thing we got going on on FC2 and now Wolfstein even though Lego is for Kids and these 2 games are for Adults?

Don't get me wrong, there has not been a good Campaing game (read: Single Player and Not MP) in a long time so, I am jonesing to play something new... I just might have to endure another run at crysis, warhead or even Vegas 2 before I decide to purchase this game.

Do you mean looking for the treasure/intel used to upgrade weapons?

There are enough to be found easily enough without having to spend time searching for them. The game does get better as you progress and there is plenty of shooting action.

I've been playing it for a while now and am going to dump it.

Besides the really bad "German" accents and voice acting, it's visually really lame.

i havent heard any "steam news" about it. so probably not. steam does however have all the other Id games, so .... maybe?

I just went through the first for a look over of the new version. This is definitely a much updated sequel with far more life like interaction!

Wolfenstein is by Id Software is also made by Activision not VALVemare where you have to log onto an account. It falls under the "Games for Windows" title like JB Quamtum of Solace and other titles there.

The lighter then air trip through the train station was definitely a new one there. You still can't take screenshots since that option was never seen in RTCW like other games for a look.

There is one thing to know when going to install the game. Even if you have already downloaded and installed the redistributable DX9c you will still to use the DX installer option. If you cancel that option you will run into the missing file error for one or more of the additional DX components the installer will put on.

If you run into that from not following through with the easy solution is simply to browse the game disk to the DX folder found there with quite a bit more cab files!

It's meant to be like that. It's a power source for your veil device.

I always hated FRAPS since you can't lose the frame counter unless buying the full version of that.

Another one called Cam Studio wasn't any help there either there never seemed to be a way to get that one running on the games here at the time I was trying it out.

I guess I'll just have to set a camcorder aimed at the display in order to grab screens when uploading the playback! :roflmao:

true. but there are numerous GFWL games on steam. GTAIV comes to mind. though with GTA on steam, you have 3-4 different services needed to actually play the game (Live, GTAtv, steam, etc). and i believe Dawn of War II is also on steam, and that to runs with GFWL.

so maybe, in the future steam may very well host Wolfenstien as well.

in any case. i've been reading a few reviews, and checking out some gameplay vids. this game looks pretty good. aside from the bugs, it's said to have, and semi-linear gameplay. i just really like fps (<- fraggy face )

Can't say I've really noticed any major bugs, or even minor ones in SP :huh:

Low-res textures and no AA can't really be called bugs

you can add fallout 3 to that list, although i'm not sure why it insists on xlive.dll.

i've only tried half-hour or so of new wolfie, and i'm sad to say that so far i'm not impressed. as mentioned above, movement is slow, graphics very dated. i haven't seen enough of the plot yet to comment. i didn't like the options screen either - it took me a few seconds to work out how to use it - click on the button, then press enter. :huh: default key mapping seemed odd too - but then i suppose i am used to my favourite key combos.

my initial impressions were the graphics seem to be a bizarre mutation of bioshock (watery effects) and moh:airbourne. this game could have been released two years ago, and nobody would have said much.

the only redeeming feature for me is the blood spurting out of necks!
