I don't see it either. Other than hiding the serial number, that screenshot is unedited.

First Startup Repair run completed, all error codes at 0x0, root cause is stated as "unspecified changes to system configuration".

Starting the second run.
that's not the full text!! It must be something like:
"Root cause found: Unspecified changes to system configuration might have caused the problem. Repair action: System files integrity check and repair. Result: Failed. Error code = 0x490.

Please post whole text
please answer

I don't have the full text, sorry. Subsequent Startup Repairs have turned up with all error codes as 0x0, with the message "OS booted up successfully." But the sluggish state still remains upon booting up.

Also, I can't enter the code as written. Going to the next line just brings up another command prompt, but with "C:\>" instead of the "X:\windows\system32>".

Quite normal. But you can also type (whatever prompt is shown):

Code:
attrib -h -s c:\users\owner

In command prompt:
Code:
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows
Any integrity errors?

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log"

However, when I attempt to access the .log file, it says "access is denied".

You looked on C??? don't do it! It's not on C.

http://www.sevenforums.com/backup-r...stem-restore-keeps-failing-4.html#post1716764

So:
Code:
[B]set WINDOWS_TRACING_LOGFILE=C:\SFCTEMP\CBS.log[/B]
[B]md C:\SFCTEMP[/B]
[B]sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows[/B]
[B]find/I "[SR]" C:\SFCTEMP\CBS.log > C:\SFCTEMP\sfcdetails.txt[/B]

You may delete C:\SFCTEMP folder afterwards
put C:\SFCTEMP\sfcdetails.txt on usb stick, transfer it to a working machine and post it here

So I need to set the .log file destination to somewhere else and run sfc again?

yes do the 4 commands. And post the final output file. You're now in windows recovery environment... correct?

Of course type C:\SFCTEMP\sfcdetails.txt first to see if it has output and isn't empty

With the low resolution and the System Recovery Options, right?

And I guess I need to find the destination drive for the USB stick, too...

Sorry if this seems like explaining things to a child; this stuff should be clicking in my head, but I guess the stress of trying to fix this and doing the other tasks I have for today on top of that...Ugh, I should be ashamed of my low performance on this end.

usb stick is D, E or F.

just do DIR E: or DIR D: and test. (put a dummy file on it) if you see dummy file... you found the drive letter. I changed my previous 2 posts btw.

Try to post the file.... then get some rest.... don't be impatient and don't overreact. We can continue tomorrow

I want to get this .txt file uploaded before I take any breaks.

I'm trying to copy it over to "E:\test folder" but I keep getting "The syntax of the command is incorrect" as an error. I must have messed up somewhere...
Code:
copy C:\SFCTEMP\sfcdetails.txt E:\test folder

And yes, the path "C:\SFCTEMP\sfcdetails.txt" works; I tested it.

You used a space in folder name. Or even better in case "test folder" is not there:

Code:
copy C:\SFCTEMP\sfcdetails.txt E:\

hi DrPikachu64
The problem is with your software not with hardware. wither you have installed some software that is not compatible with your system. as far as i know your software is not boosting up know. You should contract a tech support guy for this problem.
