Did you try to open the file ? Did you have the file before the (1) means its a second download .

I downloaded the one shown on post # 96.

I only tried to open it after i saw the error that said failed download .

The first download i had to scrap and start over because i logged off and forgot what i was doing so i ruined it.

The last one i waited till it was completely finished and said failed.

Those links you provided are used only after i have successfully downloaded the entire Win 7 and am ready to burn it to a cd/dvd right.

Yes that is correct . Looks like we will have to re download the X17-58997.iso looks like it got corrupted in the download process .

Delete the one in the Downloads Folder .

Alright i downloaded it again but now it says it's not a valid iso file.

Lets see if you move the .iso file from the Downloads folder to the Desktop .

Click on the .iso file then drag it to your desktop . Then try the program once more if that doesn't work we could try something else . That's a common issue with the tool but there is a workaround ( it is not imaginary as some people thing )

I have downloaded the iso files before and not a single issue but i was also directed to a different download site , can't remember which one though, what's the work around.

Digital river never worked for me back then either.

Use the same site as before. I had to download the iso twice before I got one that worked. Seems to be a common issue.

OK, i finally got it to work right and i followed the tutorial and everything was going fine , installed all updates and made sure i turned IE to off. Well i quickly realized i needed IE to get a search going on the net, my lan driver got me online but i had no idea how to actually search online for AV . Well, long story short , i downloaded Avast free and quickly turned off IE afterwords(MSE takes way way too long and i realized why i got rid of it in the first place).

Well i did a full scan with Malwarebytes and the same PUM Hijack Ho showed in the results section so i'm afraid we are back to exactly the same spot we were when i originally asked for help.

I realized after getting rid of the much recommended Avast free from Tweaking .coms Shane and Gizmos" best free security list in the Worlds" top pick for 2013, i didn't need to get rid of it afterall.

Switching to MSE did nothing to rectify my problem so i'd like to stay with what i got if at all possible, everybody has their preferences and should be able to stay with the ones they like (unless of course it is shown to be the cause of the issue)

Just wanted to express my take on that. So i still have that Hijack thingie and it got on my system through IE it seems .


Just a note, besides Avast free, i downloaded a trial of Malwarebytes for real time scanning and SAS, but it's just another scanner that i use, it is not the PRO version so it is not another real time scanner and does not conflict with Bytes.

Why am i still having this issue, ideas please

When you installed Windows . Did you boot off the DVD or USB device and choose Custom ? Or you Double clicked on setup.exe inside Windows ?

try running a boot rescue cd such as bitdefender or avg.
sometimes this type fo maliciouse software cannot be removed within a running operating system it will hop around your system and keep returning and can get nastier as time goes by get rid quick.
if you don`t how to create a boot iso cd.
then if you still have internet access then download bitdefenders trial version of total security it has a rescue mode that will do the same thing.

Yes, i changed the boot sequence to boot off the dvd and i always choose the custom option. I then reformat and deleted all partitions so i just had one i believe it was 596 .2 of 596.2 free space.

I know you don't have to delete if you reformat but i wanted to make sure everything was gone but that thing got on again. Maybe it got into my older thumb drive which i use to install my drivers.

The PUM Hijack Ho thingie does show the same IE policies info that i had previous so i'm not sure.
