Solved Constant BSODs after install WU

Could someone look at these please? I am perfectly stable until today when I installed 14 Windows Updates. Now I get constant BSOds. I can't even start without a BSOD. I have restored an image taken just before the installation of the WU, and still get them. I've tried a system restore also, with no help. I intend to do a clean install, but would still like to know the problem. I am in safe mode now. Thanks for any help.

Most of the BSODs seem to be related to either drivers make incorrect memory operations, such as referencing invalid memory addresses or the memory itself being at fault.

I noticed your nVidia graphics driver in one of the raw stack texts:

That's a mess, Steve, but before suggesting anything, I would request you to please upload your MSINFO32.nfo file. Some updates are conflicting with a few drivers, and those are to be pointed out. Checking the msinfo is the first step for that.

1. Click on the start button
2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Arc, I am on a backup OS I have, I can't get into my regular OS, but this is the msinfo from the backup OS. It was done a few minutes before I installed the updates. If you need me to, I'll boot into my regular OS in safe mode and send the msinfo32. Just let me know.

Harry may be onto something....perhaps rolling back the Nividia drivers to the previous ones may help?

Arc, they don't list my controller. I have a 106X sata controller and a XHCI USB controller. These are the latest drivers from Asus' website.

No more file is needed till now I was checking if you use any wifi dongle or not. Apparently you use the nice intel gigabit connection only. Please check for any possible updates.

But the Asmedia updates are vital. not only the SATA controller one, but also the xHCI.

Update those in safe mode. Then try to boot into your OS in normal mode. If failed, boot back to safe mode, disable all non microsoft services and try again.

Get the xHCI from Asmedia's site. It appears to be old, and the most frequent issue is revealing in the dumps are USB.

Harry and Dave. I am running the latest WHQL drivers. I am downloading the older version of the WHQL driver now and will update to that, if you think I should. It is 314.07 I have 314.22 now. I have nothing to roll back to. I did a very clean install!

I would try the older Nividia drivers Steve, as that is the one driver that was updated today.
Might be a long shot, but it looks coincidental at least, as nothing definitive on the drivers
side is showing in the logs.


Alternatively, and you probably already tried this, is Last Known Good Configuration?

But you made me the habit of chasing after the the issues So I do. Its a truly driver related issue, and which driver is failing is not very clear. We had hints about the xHCI, network and display drivers, but there might be something more.

A clean install solves the driver issues almost all the times

I also noticed a few things:

This driver was caught as misbehaving in one of your logs:

And I noticed these also, do you have cdrom issues, as cdrom.sys driver looked suspect in logs
as the module couldnt be loaded?
Might be worth running chkdsk also or seeing if there is an update for HDD controllers from OEM,

Thanks, Dave. I'll check on the Network driver. I'm not sure about the cdrom. I have an external cdrom. Would I be correct that the driver didn't load because it was not connected? Otherwise I'll find a new driver.

I'm back after (or during) a clean install. I've installed 115 WU so far, and it still runs. I guess that's a good sign. Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it.
