i have no idea, i borrowed the installer from him, well its a sad news you can't help me, what should i do, buy new one legal copy? reformat this laptop? start over again?

Yep Derek I don't want to keep harping on it or be at odds with you because I reckon you are a switched on fellow and a friend but I did suggest this back in post #20 to him but I don't think he wanted to do that, simply because I don't think there is any sticker or info to go on for what was put on by the friend.
This could have been resolved way back then I reckon if Think had followed that path of action or just got an OEM himself.

Drivers and all that stuff aside I feel that doing a wipe of that drive and a the clean install of an OEM will solve this once and for all.

Look Think why does it have to be Ultimate is it because you reckon it has superior powers over the other versions? I only ever use Home Premium I had Pro as the OEM on my Toshiba laptop when I bought it and frankly a waste of resources.

What I don't really understand is why you don't trust any dealers in your area? I cannot for the life of me think there are no large retailers that do not do copies of the 7 OS??

Try a Google for Microsoft the see if the store sells 7 - whatever version you want and there just has to be a reputable outlet some where. Get an OEM that is the Original Equipment Manufacturers version but you will only be able to use it on that motherboard it will not swap without asking permission from Microsoft to use it elsewhere say if the machine broke down completely and you had to get a different machine.

You will of course have to wipe that drive completely and prepare it that will need another machine to that from and a way of hooking it up to that machine one of those gadgets that connect a drive to a machine via a USB connection is what I use a but it needs to be a powered device.

Ultimate is useful only if you want to run XP mode or Bit Locker for which your board needs special hardware for.

thaks for the replies, @ Sir ICiT2lol and Britton30: yes i like ultimate because of its popularity, but now, its ok if ultimate is not available in the market, im in the Philippines right now, and im in a province, that's why there is no large retailer here, im planning i will get legal copy in manila, in the end of this month ill be i manila, i gave the specs of my laptop, Sir ICit2lol, what do you think is the best OS for my laptop?

Think no need to keep clalling sir mate John will do - personally if you are not going to use all of the features of Ultimate or Professional for that matter I don't know what Britton thinks as he is far more accomplished than me but I have always used Home Premium.

When you are in Manilla I am positive you can find a store that will sell you the version you want.

I mean the choice is yours the Ultimate of course being the most exopensive one and do try to get an OEM if you can unless you intend chnaging machines in thenear futre then get the full retail but it willl a lot more than the OEM.

The OEM will be tied to that motherboard, retail can be moved to another computer if that one dies.

You should look into an upgrade disc, we have a tutorial for doing a clean install with an upgrade disc.

Yeah, he does have a counterfeit. He already admitted that his friend used a loader on it.

Haven't the last few posts been about where to get a legal copy?

His last post was about retail or OEM, the reason I suggested an upgrade version is price and not being hobbled to the initial motherboard.

Clean installs can be done with an upgrade disc, that's the tutorial I posted.

I guess we wait and see if the OP is going to follow through...
