Hi all, I've been having some BSOD problems for a while now and had just ignored them as they were fairly infrequent and I was planning on doing a motherboard and RAM upgrade and was hoping that would fix the problem, however it didn't.

I posted a thread on a different forum but the guy who was kindly helping hasn't replied in a couple of weeks. He suggested it was a problem with my SSD (OCZ Agility 3) but I'm not sure where to go from there. The thread is a bit of a read but shows what I have gone through so far to remedy the situation so may be helpful in diagnosis!

I've also attached the requested files from the Seven Forums diagnostics tool.

Many thanks,
Richy92TW

Ken is a very experienced and efficient debugger. It is all possible that his suggestion is valid. If you want us to assist you , I would ask you to upload your MSINFO32.nfo file, which will give us some more info about your system.

  1. Click on the start button
  2. Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
  3. File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
  4. Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
  5. Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Do some Disc checks.

  1. Update your SSD's Firmware
OCZ Agility 3: OCZ Toolbox: Firmware & BIOS Updates
Samsung 840 Pro: Magician Software (Software) (ver.4.0)
  2. Re-seat the sata and power.
    72974453_zps85c47d93.jpg
  3. Run chkdsk /f/r, following the option two of the tutorial Disk Check
  4. Seatool for dos: SeaTools | Seagate download
    • Burn it in a blank cd. boot from the CD, click on "Accept", wait for it to finish detecting the drives, then in the upper left corner select "Basic Tests", then select "Long Test" and let it run.
    • You can use Win32 DiscImager to create a bootable USB and run Seatools for DOS. Follow this post to know how to make a bootable Seatools USB.
(Steps 3 and 4 are for the HDD only)
  5. Post screenshots of all the SSD's and the the HDD using CrystalDiskInfo - Software - Crystal Dew World
Uninstall NoSleep HD.

Boot into BIOS ... make it sure that the Storage controller mode is set to AHCI mode or IDE mode.

Get rid of intel rapid storage. First uninstall it from Control Panel > Programs and Features. Then Uninstall the driver from device manager.

  1. Right click on "my computer" icon and click "manage" on the context menu.
  2. It will open the "computer management" window.
  3. Select "Device Manager" in the left pane, It will list all the existing devices up.
  4. Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" by clicking on the triangle in front of it.
  5. Select one Intel device item under it, right click, uninstall.
  6. Continue the process for all Intel items under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
  7. Now restart the computer. At restart, windows will auto configure the appropriate native system driver.
And a few more things too, as the last crash dump we checked was a stop 0x124.

Speccy, computer was only at idle for a couple of hours. http://i.imgur.com/SJfX3tp.jpg

I think temps might be a little high but then it is housed inside one of these.

Edit: I just tried to run seatools from USB, I followed the guide you posted but the computer just boots straight into Windows. I've checked the boot order and the USB is definitely first in the load order. I had to boot from USB to install Windows and to update my SSD firmware so I'm not entirely sure what I've done wrong this time.

Have you used Win32DiscImager rightly, as instructed? If so, have you used the boot menu key of the BIOS to select the USB device to boot from?

If both the answers are positive, I would suggest you to try a bootable CD.

Temps are not any issue there.

Unfortunately I don't have a CD/DVD drive in my system. I tried again but it just ignores the USB and boots straight into Windows. I'll have another play around with it in a bit.

I've tried a reburn no luck! Unfortunately I have an mITX case which doesn't have space for one .

Would running seatools in Windows be of any use?

If you are really failing to run Seatools for DOS anyhow, try Seatools For Windows.
The earlier one works better.

I've been away for a while but decided to give it another shot now I'm back. It simply won't boot seatools from the USB and I can't for the life of me figure out why, never had any trouble booting from USB before.

A Google search found someone that suggested changing the storage controller mode from ACHI to IDE, that resulted in a BSOD while booting. I also had a BSOD earlier whilst playing Civ V, the minidump of which I have attached.

Seatools for Windows finds no errors but I'm not sure how good it is.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll run memtest tonight and report back tomorrow.

What does it mean by the device does not exist?

What does it mean by the device does not exist?
It may mean many a things. The easiest meaning is a hardware virtualization software, or a remote control program. You need not to be worried for it right now. Let us know what memtest got. A failing RAM may cause any kind of issues there.

Okay thanks again, will update tomorrow. I'm suprised it seems to be pointing towards a RAM issue as I was getting blue screen issues before I changed the RAM. Will just have to wait for the results of memtest!

I hate to keep asking stupid questions but I booted memtest from a USB and get this.

It doesn't appear to be doing anything and doesn't look like the screenshot in the guide you provided. To me it looks like it's not recognising the RAM properly? But then again I've never used it before.

I think Seatools may be working now so I'll leave that running tonight instead, just in case.

Edit: Strange, memtest will boot from USB but Seatools will not.
