Thanks VK,

That's where I saw under "Causes", that I wanted the OP to run a chkdsk.

I'd be happy If the OP wants to follow the steps to take under "Resolution" to rule out those Methods. If they fail I'm thinking, going with the CHKDSK and worst case moving the OS over to the WD HDD.

Does the SSD have the latest firmware ?
I don't know, the OP would have to answer that.

so i tried method one, but i cant repair the .net framework. do i continue on to method 2?
Yes, you should work the Methods in the order they are presented.

Did you get any error messages as to why you could not repair the framwork?

i also tried downloading the update manually but i get a message saying "
Software Update KB2742613 Installation Wizard does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer. Please click the link below for more details."
Did you click on the link to see more details? If you did, what did it say? please post a screenshot or a link to the details.

If the
Installation Wizard does not apply, or is blocked by another condition on your computer.
This could be relevant to step 2 in the resolution methods, "Method 2: Fix MSI software update registration corruption issues".

Please answer VistaKing's question above:
Does the SSD have the latest firmware ?

It is getting late for me, I'll pick this up in the morning.

since we are talking about corrupted system files, what about running a http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html ? Running this won't hurt either way.

Also, the http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html won't delete data nor programs, as clearly stated in the first box:
Do a Repair installation if:
  • A System Restore did not help fix your Windows 7.
  • There is no other easier option left that can fix your Windows 7.
  • You DO NOT want to do a Clean reinstall of Windows 7.
  • You DO want to preserve your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers.

(emphasis mine on the last line)
It's a bit annoying as it resets most system options to default and deletes all updates, though.

Still, keep it as the last thing to do after all troubleshooting failed.

Was discarded by previous owner due to "horrible performance".
Was running Win Xp from a IDE drive. Yeah. Was a pain.
SATA II drive and Win7 and it zips away! Yay!
Anak, I tried uninstalling using the Fix It tool and then reinstall my .Net Framework 4.5, but i still can update it from windows update. so i tried repairing but then i got this msg: the feature you are truing to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containt the installation package 'netfx_Full_x64.msi' in the box below.

Below is the log file for the repair failure.

Thank you for the log! For now, let's concentrate on the error. Here's what I do.

At the bottom of the log you see the error code: (0x8007064C) when I highlight it and then right click I have a listing to search with my favorite search engine, and I come up with this.

Error code when you use the Windows Update Web site or the Microsoft Update Web site to install updates: "0x8007064C"

You'll see the symptoms, cause, and resolution. If resolution is not open click on the + that is circled.

Follow Method 1, even though it says it is for Vista it should work for Seven. Read and understand the instructions.

I know you and Noel have worked with this before in post #8, but these CMD's are a little different.

Noels code:
Code:
[COLOR=#323232][FONT=verdana][B]NET STOP WUAUSERV[/B][/FONT][/COLOR]
 [COLOR=#323232][FONT=verdana][B]REN C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution SDOLD[/B][/FONT][/COLOR]
 [COLOR=#323232][FONT=verdana][B]NET START WUAUSERV[/B][/FONT][/COLOR]
New code:
Code:
[B]net stop wuauserv
cd %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution
ren Download Download.old
net start wuauserv[/B]
Whether or not it makes a difference, I'm not sure, but run the new batch file code.
With the new you're using a batch file and the ren cmd is different.

Check updates as in step 10, and if it works clean up as told in step 11.

Okay, now I understand. This fix-it won't actually repair MSI itself, but will repair any MSI problems you're having with any of the programs listed, and you're having a problem with .NET Framework.

Do you see any listings for either .NET Framework or .NET Framework 4.5 in either the Installing or Uninstalling lists especially the Install list? If you do pick that and follow the prompts, when done try the update for .NET Framework 4.5.

I'll be up for a while yet, I'm out watching for Perseid meteors so I'm checking about every 15" or so, but I'm going to try a get to bed around 3 or 4am at the latest..

I'll be up for a while yet, I'm out watching for Perseid meteors so I'm checking about every 15" or so, but I'm going to try a get to bed around 3 or 4am at the latest..

it seems to be able to successfully installed .net framework 4.5 now. im now trying to update it through Windows Update. i will update the results again later.

EDIT: it seems like it was able to update 2 of the update in the Windows Update. there's a bit of improvement. as for the rest of the updates, they still have the 66A error code.

I assume you've done a fresh scan for updates?

Please post new SFC/CBS logs.

remove the older CBSPersist logs, and try again - the forum has an 8MB limit on uploads
