How to know if my drive is driven with sata3

How could I know if my drive is driven by a sata3 or sata2?

You need to know the specs of the SATA controller in your system (usually built-in to the motherboard) and you need to know the specs of the drive itself. The Gigabyte B75M-D3H motherboard you have listed in your system specs say that 1 connector on the board (it will be a different color than the others) supports SATA 3.0. Provided the drive you have plugged into that connector also supports SATA 3.0, you should be good to go.

OK, I found the white sata 3 connector. Drive has been replace to be connected to it

Be sure you have the correct chip set drivers installed. Should be on the mobo CD.

Good point,
Is there a way to see if the proper set is already installed? I can't turn off my pc at the moment to go see in the bios

You don`t check the chipset drivers in the bios, open up device manager and check.

Type regedit in the start search box

Once in the Registry Editor expand "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE"

Next Expand "SOFTWARE"

Next Expand "INTEL"


Click on "Infinst"

Hi there Your Version of the Chipset is version 9 3 01019 ... You do not need to do any thing .. Either Windows has Installed that Version or you did from the Motherboards Website ....
