Do either of you have sideshow devices? The one in this Dell xps420 seems totally useless, but everything seems to be working fine. Since the tower is at floor level I see no point in bending over to look at a phone size screen when the monitor is right there. It doesn't function during sleep mode so just wakes the computer anyway.

I didn't have to do anything. It all set up as part of the install. I noticed that with my pen tablet, it was useable as a pointing device, but the tablet PC functionality was missing. I installed the software for it and all the tablet PC functionality showed up automatically. Once 7 recognized the device it set up all the associated functionality. This is why I wondered if they had devices or if they're devices where being recognized. Maybe some services that where on by default in Vista and early versions of 7 'just in case' are not being turned on in 7 unless there is a known device to use the service. Just a guess.

I'd like to know, if there is any news regarding the missing SideShow in Windows 7...???

I have Windows 7 Build 7600.16385 X64 and can't find SideShow...

Maybe somebody can tell me how to install it manually...

I believe it only comes up when a compatible device is plugged in. Meaning it's still there, they've just taken it out of the control panel.

He's referring to sideshow, not the slideshow gadget. ;)

How can I connect my Windows Mobile Phone (I have installed Windows SideShow Mobile on it) to Windows 7 so that Windows SS shows up in the control panel...???

I've already paired my device over Bluetooth with the PC, and tried to press connect in windows sideshow on my device... but I only get an error message:
"Make sure the device is paired with the PC over Bluetooth and that the PC is turned on and within range. If this problem persists, wait a few minutes and try again."

OK... Just found out, that you are right...
Symbol appears only if you already connected your device with Windows 7 (In my case this wasn't possible, because of any reason, there wasn't installed the SideShow Universal Driver ( or similiar to ... )
I installed it manually and then the connection worked...
