You have some nasty errors in the background CBS log - please try this...

reboot to the Repair Environment - as soon as the machine restarts, start tapping F8 - this should bring up the Advanced Boot Menu, at the top of which should be the option 'Repair my Computer'
Pick that
You'll have to log in with your username and password.

Pick the option to use a Command Prompt
At the prompt type
DISM /image:C:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions

Post any output.

(note: you will have to use the proper drive letter for the command - the C:\ shown may well not be correct)

Once complete, reboot to Normal Mode Windows, and then do another Check for Updates, and attempt to install ONLY the oldest update - what happens?

Try this...

Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands

Code:
ATTRIB -H -S C:\Windows\System32\config\TxR\*.*
DEL C:\Windows\System32\config\TxR\*.*
fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\

.

WAIT 10 minutes or so after the command prompt returns, then reboot. (post back first if you get any error messages!)

Try Windows Update again.

OK - I sorta half-expected that.
Try again while in Safe Mode - it may be more amenable to the commands there.

In that case, I suspect that the system is actually working fine ;)
...which means that I'll have to look again for the cause of the errors - back this evening, hopefully!
