It will happen. Just look to the Star Wars prequels. Didn't stop them from making a few billion dollars did they?

Btw, very unusual stuff, KB3035583 & KB2952664 are both showing as optional updates for Win7 Ultimate, but as important updates for Win7 Home Premium. I guess MS is treating their Ultimate customers a little better...

Both showed optional for me as well. I have windows 7 home premium.

Or it could be that MS realise that Ultimate has a higher percentage of counterfeit copies out there than all the other versions put together so don't really care about it?

^That's funny b/c pirates seem to be having a better time/getting better features than legitimate license owners.

Having these updates being "sneaked" onto the system is the digital equivalent to getting "deep-throated"...

That strange, my downloaded only took 2-3 hours. I have around that speed. Were you using windows 10 or windows 7? Slower download speed for windows 10?

The speed will most likely not stay constant. For me, it depends on when I try to download anything. Early in the morning is good. I've hit 6+Mbps in the morning. After about 8pm, I'm lucky to get dial-up speed with all the people on the same tower trying to watch movies off the web.

With 20Mb/s download it should take a few hours. I have that too and it took 6 hours to download 10049 update. But as was said earlier, it will also depend on the time of day.

Are you guys/gals using WiFi or Ethernet to download the iso? It is surprising to see a 20 mpbs speed take longer or the same amout of time it takes a 3 mpbs speed to download a 3.92 gb file.

Minimum Time

We have a 20 Mbps connection. So, I don't know how good it will do.

8 bits (b) = 1 Byte (B) >> 20Mb/s = 2.5MB/s

If an ISO is 2.5GB (2500MB)** >> 2500/2.5 = 1000 seconds

It will take a minimum of 1000 seconds to download.

As a rule, you are not likely to sustain maximum download speed during any given download, due to varying network conditions.
Also, not all of your download speed is used for the file you are downloading.
There are additional bits included in your download data stream (e.g. error checking, delivery IP address, etc.).

So it will take longer than 1000 seconds to finish.

Microsoft snuck one on me today. Yes, I signed up for the Windows Insider Program from the day it was introduced, but I opted out of installing the technical preview. Anyway, they sent out an update to install the latest 10 tech preview to one of my Windows 7 laptops. I had no idea what the update was about until I got on here and asked someone. Microsoft is being very sneaky. I will only install the finished version of 10.

I don't think anybody knows for certain. But there are plenty of conspiracy theories. It looks like it will trigger something when the 10RTM is out. Maybe a message or a link for an upgrade. It is probably wise to keep an eye on it and get rid of it when it gets bothersome.
