Solved Failing to update?

Yeah, the .NET updates I do separately and if there's any question, I'll do them one at a time.

One of the first things I do is install IE11, that removes a bunch of updates for earlier versions, I see you have one for IE8 sitting there.

If that top list is what you have left just do a few at a time, that .NET by itself and see how it goes.

Ok, thanks just to make it clear before I clean install again........

1. .NET updates separately and one at a time?

2. I didn't get an option for IE11, do you install it before .NET updates or after and from online?

3. Install IE11 than .NET updates one at a time and lastly the rest?

I just get IE11 from Microsoft download page, then a restart and the .NET usually one at a time if there has been problems, but I'll try blasting through all of them first just to see.

Screen snip 3 in post 119 shows IE 11 installed successfully.
Did you reboot after getting IE 11 installed ?

You can run IE and check the version.

No I didn't reboot as all 130 of 162 got installed... How could I have..is it possible...??

Thanks for the suggestion of updating to IE11.

I think as suggested by Derek,

1. Directly install IE11 from MS download.

2. Check for updates.

3. Install .NET updates one by one.

4. Than the rest.

5. Install MS Office
and than its updates.

I feel you would agree, though would be trouble some but might not get the 3 errors...

What about KB 3020369 when should it be installed after IE11, .NET updates??

No, i mean reboot after Windows Update is finished with it's "current update processing".

If 130 installed successfully and 32 failed, reboot after the 130 installed ok,
then (after reboot) rerun Windows Update to see what is offered, and try to install these updates.

Repeat this update/reboot until you are current with Windows Update.

That's what I do........I rebooted after 130 got installed of 161, and on rerun of check updates, displayed 23 as displayed in screen shot......that's what I do till it show none available.

Than install MS Office and repeat the same.

Only issue was the 3 errors to which Derek clarified.

1. Install IE11 manually 1st.

2. Than.NET updates one by one.

3. Than all the rest W7 important updates till shows its current......

4. You didn't reflect about KB 3020369?

5. Lastly install office and its important updates to current.

6. Than comes 3rd party apps.......

I'm not sure what updates you are still offered

Are you offered any IE 8 updates, you shouldn't be if IE 11 is installed.
You might have updates available for IE11 now.

I just don't think you have to do "1. Install IE11 manually 1st."
, as IE 11 is already installed.

Here in the attachments are the windows important updates being offered.

I have the IE11 installed, when I did a bunch updates as mentioned to Derek and got errors.

Can one install IE11 using IE8 as the 1st update from MS download link?

Asking questions cause plan doing a clean install again.

Little bit of action this morning

On the next clean install attempt Wired internet connection of course.
Right click the ie11 update and select Hide.
Then just uncheck the one I posted earlier that needs to be installed by it's self KB3020369 i don't know if you did that on this last attempt or not I said Don't and see what happens but I have no idea if you didn't or did load it with the other updates.

I also recommended don't load anything else Until all the Important updates are installed successfully too
That included Office and = Any thing else.

I unchecked KB3020369 and isn't installed yet.

Do you go with Derek's expert recommendation to install .NET updates and than the rest......

Again on a new install would start only with Windows.

After Hiding ie11 the page will refresh after hitting okay at the bottom I believe

Here's the list of Optional section updates I have not downloaded and installed on my 32 bit laptop all others were installed if you ever get past the Important updates part
Top update not shown is Silverlight yuck that makes 24

Either way you can restore ie11 first it doesn't matter.

After all Important updates are successful you can think about loading security
