Solved Going from 2 partitions back down to one lost user files desktop, docs

Actually files are not lost, I backed them up before I deleted the 2nd partition on my 128gb ssd and than resized the c drive to take advantage of all that space. Didn't see any other alternative cause I ran out of space on c.

I had some time in the distant past moved all my user files to the E partitioned drive on my 128gb ssd. Kind of forgot about this. But they were backed up and moved back onto my c drive in the users folder on the newly resized c partition. Just that windows doesn't know they are there anymore.


I've looked online and most scenarios are that the files are lost, or just seemed way more complicated than it should be to re-establish my links to these folders and files.

Anyone know of a webpage that specifically addresses this situation?

I am getting the error:
E:/acer151/desktop refers to a location that is unavailable. Blah blah blah, it might have been moved to another location

If you eliminated the 2nd partition in order to make C: bigger, that would explain the error message. There is no more E: drive, because you eliminated it by eliminating the 2nd partition. (E: was the 2nd partition.)

When you eliminated the 2nd partition, the files in it were eliminated along with it. The only way to not lose those files is to back them up before removing the partition. You did that, and so now you can put them back onto the drive if you want to. Of course, this time they will be on the C: drive rather than the E: drive, because there is no more E: drive.

Yep, did all that. The problem now is how to get windows to recognize all these user files. Or another way to put it is the acer151 (user name/folder) and it's sub content's, photos, docs, downloads, desktop, music, etc, etc, that go along with this user folder.

It knows they exist, just not where to look for them, hence the error message.

Or if I could get the computer to look for C:\acer151/desktop instead of E:\acer151/desktop

I solved the problem by adding another administrator user account. Not the way I wanted to do it but anymore I like to take the path of least resistance.
