Router speed question

I have cable internet, "up to" 150 Mbps. Using Ookla, I generally get about 140 Mbps or slightly higher (depending on time of day) running directly off my Motorola SB6120 modem, which is rated at 150 max. That's fine. Recently added a D-Link DIR-632 router, speed rated at 802.11n, which should be 150 at least. I use wifi occasionally, need to have that option, but I usually have wifi turned off & am more concerned about wired speed. Running off the D-Link router via ethernet (not wifi), I am getting only ~95 Mbps. I got the DIR-632 to "upgrade" from a Netgear WNR1000v2, rated at 802.11b/g, which via ethernet delivered the SAME ~95 Mbps. Why am I not able to get faster ethernet speed with the 802.11n router? Again, talking about the direct wired speed, NOT wifi. How can I get that 140 meg-ish speed with this supposedly FASTER router? This is with only one device (my 7 PC) connected.

You will never get full speed with that router it's old and only has 100 meg port so your max is 100 meg

Never buy a cheap router, go back to the Netgear brand and buy ac which is the latest, and dual band. A good router should give you good service for 6-8 years.

Thanks for the replies. I'm using this older router because I can't afford a new one. I still don't get why it's rated as up to 300Mbps via wifi (IEEE 802.11n) yet only delivers about 1/3 that via ethernet. How can this be? What spec do I look at that will tell me the max ethernet speed of any given router?

Router terms

Ethernet = 10mbps
Fast Ethernet = 100mbps
Gigabit = 1000mbps

If you do not see the word gigabit, a router likely maxes out at 100mbps.
