how to execute the program tab in task scheduler in arguements

Hi, i could create and run a task to start a exe in task scheduler.
what is the field for arguements.
will i be able to specify a specific tab, on opening of a exe , gui.
For eg, if i create a task, it opens up the exe file, which is a gui program.
i have to speficy the tab there to open it so , i get the results of the tab menu START, which is available in the opening screen of the exe.
what is to be written in arguements tab in action tab in task scheduler.
please give some example of arguements

It's not entirely clear what you're asking for, but if I got it right, you have to read the documentation of the target program.

Arbitrary command line parameters can be passed to any program, but it's ultimately up to each program to decide what to do with them, like opening it in a particular state or carrying on some specific action. It may also be possible that the software you're running doesn't support this at all.

If possible, and if so, how to do it depends on the specific program. There is no rule or convention at all. Its documentation will have the definitive answer.

I am referring to the program kitty.exe
i configured my user password and auto command to open it to open the router status page of my router thro ssh connection.
if i schedule the task , it opens of the program interface and stops at it.
I want to execute the Start tab in the interface to get what i want.
i give auto command show status, which opens the page in command prompt

i did it but forget to take o copy of batch file.
i had done the task to open the start tab automatically at every one hour, so that i could view the router status , download and upload speed at every one hour.
the program worked fine , but due to some progblem, i had to reinstall the windows and everything gone off.
i could open the exe as per the tutorial on task scheduler.
but i want to click the START tab to get, which i want to avoid.
I will enclose the screen shot so that you could get a idea of it

It is not entirely clear what you want to do. I think you want to lanuch a GUI-based program from Task Scheduler?

You can do this with Task Scheduler, but the arguments need to come from the GUI-program. There are no specific Task-Scheduler-arguments for controlling GUI program.

That is, if you want to open a GUI-based program, and then switch window, tab or context within the GUI-program, you wont be able to do that with arguments, unless the program writers have provided the parameters in the first place.

If you want to automate a GUI-program, then I imagine you could create a macro using Auto Hotkey (or similar), and use that to change window, tab or context within your GUI-based program. So, my solution would be to schedule your GUI-based program, then schedule an Auto-Hotkey macro to run immediatelyu afterwards. Does that help?

I think you create a startup session file, and launch kitty with the startup file specified as an argument.

I'll have a look for you. I am not an Auto Hotkey user, so I do not pretend that I know that the solution is a workable one.

Hi, iko22, i have achieved what i want by using this bat file.
i substituted user name and pw to mine.
i just followed elevated command task bar tutorials and set the task.
Then i have the bat file like this.


@ echo on
start "" "%~dp0\kitty.exe"
kitty.exe -ssh 19x.x.x.x -l user -pw /password
pause
i swear that i got it from a different post this line
start "" line in my bat file
i also made it to run the program in 1 hour gap, this helps me in knowing the current dl speed and up speed
By the by, is accessing the router thro ssh is less secured.
please give your opinion on this

The way in which you have specified the path, %~dp0, means it will only work if kitty.exe was in same folder as your .bat batch file, correct?

Hi, iko, thanks . But could you explain , what each symbol denotes in that line.
it works not only on bat and exe in the same folder, but also the tutorial in which , elevated command using task scheduler was specified in this link also.
the commands are filled in the user interface of kitty.exe , and when i exdecute the bat, it works.
this tutorials shows how to give arguments and target.
nice tutorials.
and what about my query on using this ssh client in security aspect. please tell me
tried putty.exe, but combursome procedure of creating public key, and private key and register this key in cmd promt. NOrmal users would findit difficult to do so and so, i used kitty.exe for only talking to my router
Why i ask this , unlike other exe program, this does not involve anything , but opens and making registry entries in registry.
So, just deleting exe would not delete those entries.
Would you give opinion on openssh,

Users would be using only programs in which they could achieve something without risk.
scanned exe in avast, and it found no issues.
